Treatment plans, Side Effects, you Kindreds know, the usual!!!
A week ago I started Zometa infusions and Faslodex injections..and of course I had to get all of the listed side-effects! For those of you "fortunate" enough to get Neulasta shots, the SE's are similar . :-(
The latest and more disturbing is the knee edema~ OMG!!! I literally have not been able to walk for 4 days! Not so much pain, thankfully, but both of my knees look as if I had softballs shoved in them ( lovely visual, isn't it??) and I cannot bend my knees. I hope to live to be at least 90 something, and I mean no disrespect to anyone who is that age, but I am shuffling around as if I have a year to go before I hit 100! I have such a good caregiver in my sweet Reggie~ we have just about exhausted the nation's supply of frozen peas to use as ice packs, not to mention drinking water by the gallon ( which I do anyway)elevating my legs, taking anti-inflammatories and even getting foot massages. Not much has helped, sad to say.
I finally put a call into my oncologists office~ the chemo RN ( love, love, love her!!!) called me back almost immediately and said I was doing all of the right things and this side effect would "eventually" run its course. That was music to my ears! Lo and behold, I see a smidgen of improvement today...so happy about that!
I see as usual I have missed milestones~ hair coloring, birthdays, appointments, travelers, home-comers, joke tellers, bus riders, new ones and those checking in who we haven't seen in a while. I never thought I would be part of that group! So, hello my Kindred Spirits! Know that you are all in my ♥ as I know I am in yours.
I have 2 appointments yet this week, so if I am not able to check in, hopefully you will think good thoughts for me just as I do for every one of you.
Love you all...
Hugs,
Chen♥

It sucks.......side effect, side effects....I can imagine how miserable that must be...I know the frozen peas well....a huge gallon freezer bag full...with written on it with a red sharpie......DO NOT EAT ! Yuk!
I'm hoping things get better for you....and aren't we blessed to have such good men in our lives.? And yes, this site sends me over the edge sometimes trying to get on....server down...unable to open....grrrrrrrrr. Keep us posted....we care
As always, wishing you the best,
Hugs, Nancy0 -

Chen, it's just like you to be so focused on your OWN problems,...Trace and I drove to three stores yesterday and finally ended up in a back alley somewhere buying frozen peas on the black market, just so we could make dinner. Now I know why!
Okay, seriously...I'm glad to hear that your "softball knees" are starting to feel a little better, and am hoping that the nation's frozen pea supply will be able to recover soon, because you won't need them anymore!
Big hug to you,
Traci0 -

Prayers are with you too. Hope you feel better real soon. Chemo is horrible.
It stinks that you are having all the side effects you are, but I'm glad that your Reggie is right there for you (we knew he would be) and that your spirits (at least on here) are bright. I hope you can start moving around soon--not being able to makes everything worst.
Even with the nasty side effects, your new treatments are kicking butt--I just know it. Hang in there, dear warrior. You are doing a fine job.
Hugs, Renee0 -
So glad you made it on today
Sorry you have "elephant knees" but so glad your nurse got back to you promptly and you are seeing some improvement.
If you aren't able to make it back on here before your appts....Good Luck, we will all be thinking of you and wishing you better days with less side effects,

Been thinking about you lots, Chen. I don't like it when you don't post. So sorry about the edema and other nasty side effects. Good that you have a cousin "in the business" to keep you supplied with frozen peas!
My very very bestest to you-

Chen, its so good to see your post even tho you're having some terrible side effects. Looks like you still have your great sense of humor what with softball or elephant knees. Just remember frozen peas work for a lot of things, not that you will ever need them again. And you may never eat them again either. I keep them in the freezer just for such emergencies but I don't eat them either. You know how much you're loved and missed here so post when you can but take care of yourself now. Focus on what you need to do to get thru this and come here when you can. Sending you lots of love.0 -

so happy to hear from you and know that you are always in our thoughts too Sorry to hear about the side effects. I tend to get edema in the knees and my rheumatologist is always removing fluid from them and then injecting them with cortizone. Your spirits sound positive and Reggie sure is a keeper! Post when you can...... I too had problems several days either getting onto the website or not being able to post. Dang!
