Funny how scary that little bottle can be. Now you can move on.....
I stared at the arimidex bottle for a couple of days before I actually started taking it. (I had to wait after the oophrectomy)

I started radiation last week and the Dr. didn't have me wait. Going for my first mamo (after dx) in two weeks. I'll keep you all posted.0 -

Check to see if you are suppose to wait for the mammo. I am not sure if you should have it during radiation. At least on the side they are radiating. If you do have it, you may want to take a mild pain releaver about an hour prior to the exam and definitely let the tech know about the rads being so recent.

Lots of luck with it!!! I
Lots of luck with it!!! I waited a week before I got up the nerve to take it. I still stare at it every day before I take it, pissed at it because I HAVE to take it. I didn't notice any side effects till week 5! Hopefully you will be lucky and NOT get any.

I got my script for tamoxifen today....a little confused....My Onc said that if my periods dont resume in three months that I go on something else... I understand that you take this pill when you are not in menopause yet. But like most, chemo stopped my periods completely back in February. Sooo I guess I want the ovaries to start working again? He did say that while there are side effects there are benefits other than the cancer fighting life saving effects! He said it decreases your chance for heart attacks, lowers cholesterol & promotes healthy bones...
Anyways the good thing about today...I dont go back to Onc for 3 months!!! whooohoooo!

Renee, that's confusing for me too! I haven't had a period since my surgery! I had it the day of and poof it went away. Nothing was said to me about stopping the tamoxifen and going on anything else. My aunt who is 73 and way past her period is on her second year of tamoxifen. Funny, my cholesterol is up! If they switch you to something else, keep me posted. I'm curious as to what they do. Good luck on the tamoxifen!! Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones who get NO side effects!!renee616 said:tamoxifen

Really? Interesting. Haven't had my periods since April and taking tamoxifen. Some Doctors still prescribe tamoxifen to post-menopausal women. Also, some say that to be considered on menopause, we must not get periods in a year.renee616 said:tamoxifen

I started last Sat., and so far, feeling OK. Too soon to speak of course, but I have faith you and I will handle this, God willing.
Are you doing marker test Renee?
I wish you good luck with tamoxifen.0 -
