Will We Ever Know

Tears are inseparable from cancer
In a similar way compassion is bound to our hearts wings
Cancer leaves an undeniable grip on us as we breathe its danger
Upon hearing about someone’s battle and all that cancer brings

Our very steps are stopped in their tracks
Before we can catch our fleeting breath
A tear forms followed by one more as our heart breaks
Soon each tear forms a stream moist with warmth

We sigh amidst a sad cry
And a moment of silence ensues
As we search our spirit for the answer to why
Were filled with blues and left with no clues
