Some happy news....

I kind of hate to post in the middle of the MB's sad news, but, hopefully, my news will bring relief to some others as well.
My bone and pet scans show no change at all--this is great news! In fact, the one rib that is still hypermetabolic (used to be 4 ribs that were) is less hypermetabolic than it was in February.
The only new finding was a spot in my big toe (quit laughing) that has been bothering me for some time (I had it tested for gout about a year ago). It would be really unusual to be mets as bone mets goes to the foot <1% of the time. I think it is most likely arthritis flaring from an old injury (a 6 foot pet iguana dropped a giant rock on it many years ago). But that is another story ;-)
Anyway, we are celebrating around here!!! We are still going to MD Anderson in September, because we'd like to hear a 2nd opinion on why my pesky markers keep going up. And I expect I will still be changing to faslodex and xgeva, but I'll let you know what the onc says on Monday. But tonight we are celebrating!

CC, I am so happy to hear this news! You are really amazing the way you continue to fight and continue to get the upper hand on this disease. It is no match for you. As for your big toe, I couldn't help but giggle a bit. Insensitive of me, though since my mother and father both get gout flare ups so I think there is a pretty good chance that I too will be suffering from a painful big toe at some point in the future. Enjoy your celebrations and congratulations on your uplifting news!

As for that toe of yours -- gout, or arthritis flare up from an old injury (a 6 foot pet iguana and a rock dropped on your toe) - now that's a story I must hear -- perhaps, over a few glasses of wine.
