Secondary Peritoneum Cancer and FOLFOXFIRI Treatment

Hi all: Got the results of my MRI today from the oncologist. The MRI was done after 4 treatments of oxaliplatin/irenotecan/leucovin/5FU pump for cancerous seeding from a surgically removed gallbladder and its tumour. The good news is that the number and size of the nodules have not increased since an MRI done in April 2011 (and at that time they were about the same as they were in April 2010). The other good news is that the cancer has not spread anywhere else. The bad news is that there has been no shrinkage of the peritoneum/omentum nodules. They are all pretty small, <1cm. Anyone else have this experience? We have decided to do more treatments, at least another 3, with another MRI in late August.

    I'm glad to hear the good news part of the outcome. And at least the other nodules as still very small. Without the treatment, they may have become bigger. It's particularly good news that the cancer hasn't spread. That's very good.

    I hope you can take comfort in that and enjoy yourself a bit.

    Thanks, all! That is how I feel too. And I wonder if they really looked at and measured individual nodules through time or just compared these results to past reports! I would like to have a "map" of the nodules with their exact locations and sizes. To me, that would be the only way to tell for sure. Maybe even check MRIs or CTs I had years ago.
    6th FOLFOXFIRI treatment today - I need a nap!
