Hi Dora,
FOLFIRI has been my 1st and only chemo since DX. When I first started I had 4 mets in liver and 15+ spread all over my lungs.... Folfiri killed them all but 1 and Cyberknife got it. I was in remission for a while and had a recurrance of 1 met in my lung. Doing ONLY irinotecan for that and it is working. I have had much success with his chemo. Side effects are hair loss and diarrhea...sometimes severe..both. Prayers to you ....take care.

Hi: My first chemo regime was cisplatin/gemcitibine which did not get the small nodules on my peritoneum (from gallbladder cancer). So I am now on FOLFOXFIRI (oxaliplatin/irenotecan/5FU pump for 42 hrs (the usual treatmentfor colon cancer). My oncologist reduced the dose of oxaliplatin by 40% with a slower infusion rate to ease the neuropathy and that worked along with supplements. The irenotecan and 5FU both cause severe diarrhea and that is my biggest problem - usually starts two days after 5FU pump removed - I control it somewhat with lomotil (imodium doesn't work well for me on this). Fatigue and low blood pressure sets in at the same time. These last about 5 days. My hair didn't fall out but is breaking off in places. Sweating is another side effect but I'm not sure from what. I have just finished my 5th treatment and mostly feel very good. Good luck with it!
