Post-op drainage

Hi everyone! I'm doing good after my MIE on 7/1. I still have my JP drain and I was wondering what some of the vets were draining per day at this point. I'm averaging around 140 ml per day.

    Hey Jimbo,
    Glad to hear you are doing well. Not sure if I remember what JP drain is. Is it a sort of a ball on your right side? Tom had it for about 10 days after the surgery. He or I would empty it twice a day when it was about 3/4 full. I am sure you were given instructions on what to watch out for, but just in case this was somehow overlooked, here are some tips:
    - make sure you squeeze it before closing the cap so there is some suction
    - watch out for anything that looks like tiny loose blood vessels in the tube. It might be a sign that the tube is getting clogged. In which case you need to "milk" it. Hold the tube in place where it comes out with one hand and use the other hand to "milk" the tube to push the clot to come out. If you see that it is coming out, you have to move it till it gets all the way inside the ball.
