Lurking about
Hi Laurie, I have been lurking about. The loss of Kerry affected me pretty profoundly (I had taken a month or so off from the forums and had just returned) and feel like I don't have a ton to contribute, as there are others who are wiser and better spoken (or written as the case may be).
I am doing well though. Better than well in fact! Other than a bit of funk from being jobless still, I am doing very well.
I just had an appointment with my surgeon, Dr. Paty at MSKCC today and things are going well. Biopsies all came back negative for cancer, chronic infection seems to be gone and I am healing well. So well in fact I am planning on training for a triathlon in the fall of 2012 (if I manage to find a job before then and can fund pool time for the swim).
While the latest health concerns (initial dx was a cancer return with sacral involvement) was scary and still involved serious surgery (it was not cancer though), it was a wake up call. I am awake! (in this case literally since 2:30 am)
Thanks for thinking of me.

Rick,
You go get 'em in the triathlon! Wonderful that you are feeling good. It is nice to see you.

Thanks for popping in and letting us know how you're doing. I (for one) look forward to your postings. You always have special words of wisdom to offer and you are quite eloquent so please don't think you aren't.
I'm pleased that you're doing so well (other than the job thang). So good to hear you're feeling so adventurous as to do the tri-athlon! That is AMAZING! Makes me so proud! My friend did the Patrick Dempsey Challenge last year DURING CRC treatment! Was proud then too.
Please don't worry about finding a job, it will happen.
I think we all were thrown for a loop with Kerry's, John's, Roger's and now AnneCan's passing. All were superb people who gave much to this board. Sort of begs that question...Is it better to have loved and lost or to have never loved at all? I'm glad I knew each and every one of them, though it hurts not to read their posts anymore.
Anyway, please don't be a stranger...we love your visits.
Peace and Love, Laurie
P.S. I love your face:)0 -
