Welcome
Welcome -- I am sorry you have cause to be here, but you have found a wonderful community. Thank you for sharing your story. I was about your age (I was 44) when I was diagnosed -- with what turned out to be Stage III rectal cancer. That was about 8 years ago -- I'm still alive and kicking! This board has been an unbelievable source of information, shared wisdom, and emotional support to me throughout. I hope it will be the same for you. Please don't hesitate to raise any questions or concerns you may have. I hope you are having an uncomplicated recovery from your surgery, and that you have a good meeting with your oncologist.
Warm wishes

Hello and welcome
As was already said, I think you will find this community a good support to you. There has been some bickering from time to time on certain subjects, but hopefully it won't happen again and just ignore it if it does & focus on the people and comments that are helpful. I have gained so much support and have learned so much from others since I have been on the board (a little over 2 yrs). I also get satisfaction with helping to support others. It really does help one's soul to help others!
Since this is a cancer board, occasional bad news is to be expected, but focus on the people who are doing well and let them be inspiration to you! There most definitely are people here who are all stages- we even have several people who are stage IV who have been doing well & some who even have become cancer free. Many stage III patients here are NED (no evidence of disease)/cancer free. As stage III yourself, you have a good chance of really beating this! I know how scary it is (I was diagnosed at the start as stage IV- 4 years ago now- I had just turned 41 at the time & I just had my 45th b-day on 7/11), but I still expect to be around for a long time to come!
You take care and keep checking back with us!
Hugs,

Haha- no we didn't this year- we usually do that on my birthday, as 7 Eleven does give free Icees (or slurpees, whatever they call them) out on July 11th (7/11) every year. This year we went out to dinner and we going to go to 7-Eleven afterwards, but the restaurant was slow & it was late & we were full!
Best wishes, Biz, I'll look forward to seeing you around here!
