Ixempra and Xeloda

Hello,
Has anyone had these two drugs? I have been on carboplatin and gemzar since September 2010, and it has stopped working. My tumor markers and CTC numbers are rising again and PET scan last showed new hot spots. Wednesday my oncologist will be starting me on the combination of Ixempra and Xeloda. I'm nervous and worried because he said side effects are similar to adriamycin which was absolutely horrible.
Wondering if anyone else has had this drug combination and what to expect. Also, do I need to dig my wigs back out?
Thanks,
Laura

Hi LauraMegan M said:I haven't had these Laura,
I haven't had these Laura, but, I am hoping some of the pink sisters here have and can help you.
Good luck,
Megan
I may not be of great help here but thought I'd let you know about my combination. I've never had Ixempra but since May 28 I've been on Xeloda and Tykerb, it's the toughest combination I've been on but my onc says it's this combo that's so bad - not either one individually. My dosage is: 5 250mg Tykerb pills taken all at once, EVERY evening. Then I take 4 500mg Xeloda in the morning and repeat the same in the evening. Xeloda is taken for 14 consecutive days, then off for 7 days.
I realize every combination is different and as individuals we are too. I wish you the best and hope your new combination is both successful and tolerable.
Marsha
P.S. Of all my different chemos, I only lost my hair while on Taxol.0
