My dad was diagnosed on July 1 T3, N2, MO
My father 67 will be 68 next month, went to the ER last week, he felt food lodge and it wouldn't come up. The dr. did a egd-found a mass and food lodge, suggested it was adenocarcinoma. At this point my mom and I started to look for comprehensive cancer center dealing with esophagus cancer in Illinois and we contacted U of C, they couldn't do anything until we got the biopsy report back. We went to the GI dr. who did the egd-he tells us everything came back negative, start taking nexium 2x a day. See me approx 6-8 weeks.... Okay????
So, immediately after this point we left walked to the car and called U of Chicago, they scheduled a EUS. Unfortunately, the EUS did showed T3, N2, MO, next step will be the CT/PET scan.
Hard to grasp all of this......we were just at Walt Disney World the 1st week of June. Were taking one day at a time and reading alot of information.

Same here
Hi Carolyn,
Sorry to hear the news. My dad received the same diagnosis in January. He went through chemoradiation, which he tolerated pretty well. He had the MIE esophagectomy at UPMC Presbyterian with Dr. Luketich. He has had some complications from the surgery, but is doing rather well now. I can remember what it was like when he first found out. Go for a test, wait, go for a test, wait, go for a test, etc. However, I found that I was in a better position once I knew exactly what we were dealing with (e.g., stage, tumor grade, etc). It sounds like you are trying to get as much information as possible. This board is full of useful information from knowledgeable people. I wish you and your family the best of luck.

Thank goodness you did not
Thank goodness you did not wait 6-8 weeks! Way to take charge. You have to be proactive with EC and try and stay ahead of it.0 -

Hi Carolyn. Welcome to our
Hi Carolyn. Welcome to our site. There are a lot of us in a lot of different stages. I was diagnosed, after food stuck, in Nov. 2007, with T3N1m0. Ater chemo followed by surgery in May 2008, my test have come back every time as cancer free. Glad your dad's was discovered at this stage. there are so many that aren't found until stage four.
The testing is very difficult to get through. It seems to take forever, but it has to be done.
We've all been to where you and your family are now, and will be here with any kind of help we can give you, even if it is just to say we care and to offer up continous prayers,

Thanks for the continous prayers,it just seems like a bad dream and I'll wake up. Just wish that was true.
So tomorrow is the CT/PET Scan praying that there isn't any METS, we will meet with Dr. Marco Patti afterwards. Next week appt is with oncologist Dr. Victoria Villaflor and then radiation oncologist with Dr. Renuka Malik. Has anyone ever heard anything about these dr.'s?
Keep praying!
