Please remember those that have and still pave the way for the freedoms that we enjoy....

Our men and women in the service, their families, those that are serving and those that have served.

Those that have paid the ultimate price, those that have signed on the dotted line and know at what cost that could be.....ready 24/7 to serve, protect and die for those freedoms we all enjoy, but sometimes forget the price that was paid for them.

Freedom
We had our BBQ a day early, the day before the Fourth, and my wife asked me to say the prayer prior to our repast. I do not do that, for reasons that I will not get into, but was glad to make a toast to those present, and said that I was appreciative of all of the family and friends in attendance but wanted to especially express my gratitude to the one of us still working actively to preserve our freedom, my son-in-law, a 15-year member of the US Army and a survivor, not of cancer, but of Afghanistan.

He was surprised, I think, by that expression of sentiment, and hopefully elated by the cheers of all others at the table.

Freedom fo sure!
I was @ church yesterday and to my amazement, they had a special video clip of what each part of the pledge of alegiance meant, and then the pastor lead us in the pledge, and I just thought it was awesome...

I know there are a lot of veterans on this board and I want to thank and recognize each of you for protecting my freedoms and making it possible to me to have the choices I have.

My neighborhood is alive with fireworks right now and there are celebrations in the street.

Bless you all for serving our country. You deserve nothing but the best of health and freedom yourselves.

Military and Families

We are all truly blessed by the brave Men and Woman who serve protecting our rights and Freedom. I have 5 of my family members serving our great country today and my prayers go out to everyone and all their families.

Here, here! Having three brothers that were in the marines, air force, and navy. One was in Viet Nam and my father-in-law is a WWII vet; we can never be reminded often enough and thank them enough for their past service and present service to our country. I'd hate to think where we'd be without them! Hope yours was a happy 4th!

Viet Nam Era Veteran
I'm a Viet Nam Era Vet (six years Marine Corps)....meaning I volunteered near the end of when the war was official over. They weren't sending any military to Viet Nam, but the war hadn't officially ended at that time either.

You must be proud to have such a military presence within your family...

Thank you for posting this. Yesterday was a good day as I watched a 4th of July parade in our area. What a wonderful turn out there was, had to be several thousand people along the parade route.

Happy 235th USA, and thank you to all of the Service members, past and present, our Freedom is the direct result of your Service to our Country.

Thanks for thinking of us
I have spent the last 20 years of my life in the Army, 10 of which were spent at war. The sacrifices that were/are made everyday by the men and women in uniform are great. Between myself and my close friends here at Fort Bragg, NC, we have probably logged a cumulative 20 years of being in either Iraq, Afghanistan, or Pakistan. I can't go into how many birthdays, weekends, holidays, anniversaries that have been missed. The sacrifice is tremendous without going into the loss of life. We are the land of the free because we are the home of the brave. Thanks for the post John.
