I rang the bell yesterday (July 1, 2011) and feel amazing
Well I rang the bell yesterday at 3.45pm after 4 rounds of T & C and I feel amazing!!
I have had a couple of issues from the last two infusions with my poor little veins being "shot" afterwards but this one was a breeze.
It is over and I am so happy. I stlll have some hair ( I am rocking my wig!) and I have eyebrows and eyelashes too. I have no black finger nails and have found that arnica on all my infusion bruises has helped.
Now for a week of R & R and then back into life as I knew it. My reconstruction surgery is scheduled for the end of September and then the hormone treatment will begin.
Thank you to all of you for your words on support and advice through this and all the special new friends I have made.
For those of you just starting out on your chemo journey - HANG IN THERE - it will be over before you know it. Just have faith - listen to the experts, read these discussion papers daily and most importantly smile and have confidence. AND DRINK LOTS OF FLUID. Even though water is best - sometimes it tastes like wall-paper paste! My trick. Treat yourself to a nice glass of 7-Up with some slices of lemon and lime.
Take care my pink sisters - I will be watching out for all of you.

Margz, we both have a weekend to celebrate. You finishing chemo and me finishing radiation. Together we are twice as strong, mix in all our other pink warriors and we got this thing licked. Your surgery is still ahead of you, but in the blink of an eye this to will be behind you. Strength in numbers... and Oh girl.. we sure have it here.
Congrats... Whoohoo....

at best .. but doable. Celebrate all the wonderful things life has to offer you .. and take the time if possible to relax a little, and recover.
You still have hair .. now that ROCKS! I too, had black ridged finger nails, lost 3 toe nails due to taxotere and taxol. It takes time (ugh), but they do grow back.
Strength, Courage and Hope.

Margz, I remember how well I felt after I completed my 4 rounds of T&C. I felt amazing also! At least you still have some hair! I had lost it all brows, lashes and of course head but it is all back now. Congratulations! You deserve to celebrate!
