Yeah yeah yeah! Okay....lol. Yesterday was day 10 from the day I took the clinical trial drug TESETAXEL for my recurrence of TN bc..On Thursday when I woke up, I, as usual, touched the "lump" above my clavicle..hmmmm I thought...this sucker seems smaller...nah I thought, just wishful thinking...but I looked in the mirror and it looked smaller...husband said the same thing....had to have labs and quick appointment with oncology PA and my clinical trial nurse...after they said my lab work was perfect, no low white count, etc...I mentioned to this PA that the lump felt smaller to me...she looked at the measurements and drawings my oncologist had done and said.....well he has it the size of a lime...it certainly doesn't feel that big to me! They went to get my oncologist...he came in, felt it, repeatedly, grinned from ear to ear and said.....IT IS INDEED SMALLER! From a lime size to cherry size .....in just 10 days and just one cycle!!!!! Do I need to say I am floating?

Mjfromtx..you asked about this clinical trial....This drug is in phase II and is in conjunction with Sloan Kettering in NY...I am NOT in NY...my local cancer center was "invited" to participate...The company that has developed the drug is GENTA. Again the drug is TESETAXEL..you can goggle it...by company or drug....it pops right up! It will give you the info about the drug, addresses, etc....I do know they are taking at this time 25 women with metastatic bc.. There are 21 of us right now...there is one other patient at my cancer center that is in this....her tumors shrunk by 50% after two cycles.......From what I understand, it is ready to go to phase III which is a good thing...

I would suggest involving your oncologist in finding out more about this....I did have to qualify, test after test after test.....the qualifications can be found when you google it....

So, my pink sisters, this ole gal is having my own happy fireworks !!!!!!!!!

I wish you the best and...
Hugs to all, Nancy

    Tears of joy are cluttering
Tears of joy are cluttering my eyes at this moment.... I can be such an emotional sap at times I tell you, this is such great news Nancy. Wow and only after one treatment, I am speechless. How many treatments are they making you do? After a couple more that baby should disappear..

I don't think I have to tell you to have a wonderful holiday weekend, I still can't believe it, that is so awesome. Woohoo....

    GREAT news!
Hi Nancy -- I was happy to read your post. This is fantastic. We pray that this "SUCKA" continues to shrink, and goes away super soon.

I am getting treated at Sloan now and I always wonder what kinds of research they are doing on treatments. I am getting the AC/T, my last taxol coming up. I wonder if they can come up with a pill for ER+? I don't know how many treatments there are for bc, but it's always great news when someone like you states it's working!!!! I am so happy for you. And please keep us posted, always.

Enjoy your long holiday weekend! (with a big smile) :)

    Happy, happy news indeed.
Happy, happy news indeed. This is just so great. Thanks for sharing all the info with all of us. Not everyone knows about clinical trials and this will allow many of our ladies to talk with their doctors about the possibility of using this as well for their stage IV. It is one more potential weapon in the fight against cancer and sounds very promising.

Nancy, I echo all the joy
Nancy, I echo all the joy and "atta-girl" remarks as my other pink sisters. It truly is promising and I am on the sidelines hoping for total shrinkage. Thanks for taking part in this trial. I can't wait to read that the tumor is nowhere to be found. Keep up your positiveness and know we are right here to cheer you on. Now, go enjoy your happy fireworks!!

Now THIS is what we need!
Nancy, I'm elated for you and angry at the same time, because THIS is the kind of treatment we've been needing for so long! A lime to a cherry -- the best fruit salad ever!

WHY has it taken so long to come up with a drug that can do this?!? That makes me angry, but I'm ever so grateful that it's come around in time to give you a very happy holiday weekend!

I shall have some fruit salad on the 4th, in your honor! :-)

    Amazing
What amazing news you got.You have more to celebrate than the 4th of July. I feel like Traci what took so long.I am sure many other lives could have been saved with what you are experiencing. All in just a few short days. YEAH!!!

AWESOME news.I feel I need to write some of these new things down to keep my doctors up on things.Make suggestions if I come across any problems.I'm sure they know but just want to mention things that might work better.

Two different hospitals in my area are building 2 huge cancer centers.Awesome having centers treating only cancer patients and being so close to me.Both will be finished within 2 years.

    Oh, How wonderful!
I'm so happy for you and for all the women with breast cancer. This sounds like a major major breakthrough.

Now, really Traci, fruit salad? How about a margarita with a cherry on top?
