in Head and Neck Cancer #1
I have 2 questions frist I had my feeding tube removed 5 weeks ago now around where the tube went in it's swallen like fluid around it it's not sore or red like it might be infected I dont know if it may need to be drained or not has anyone had this problem. Next question 2 weeks ago I started taking Salagen to help with no salava and dry mouth how long does it take to start working anyone got any answers.

    No, it shouldn't be swollen, I would get that peg tube hole checked asap. My body is super sensitive, but I never had that happen.

    I was told to give the saliva drugs one month. Hope they work for you.

    I agree with sweets
    They took my peg out last month and its not swollen at all. It is a little red but that is it. Does not hurt at all. Also it has no fluid coming out at all. God bless. David

    And I also agree-
    with Sweet. My only post-yanking problem was seapage- not swelling. Likely should see your regular Dr. about the swelling, as that might be more along his/her line of expertise. Your immune system is still recovering, so it might be an infection you'll need antibiotics to treat.

    I agree with all that your tube area should be looked at as they just pull that balloon out inflated as they do with a trach tube which seems weird...they can not deflate it.. The salagen did not work for me after 90 days so i quit..Good Luck...

    I can’t help on the first question but the 2nd question is Salagen may take quite a few weeks before you see improvement and ever with that you may not see any at all, depending on how bad your glands were affected by the radiation.

    I am with you I used it for 4 or 5 months and never seen any improvement from it. Stoppers 4 dry mouth spray works best for me during the day and at night.
