Pain associated with colon cancer?
I have been having some abdominal pain, sharp pains that stop me, they only last a minute or so but the pain is still there slightly and can be felt if pushed on. The pain is in lower right abdomen and after I eat it gets especially bad, real gassy and noisy, the right side also gets real bloated after eating but then goes down later on. I am usually ok in the morning and it gets worse as day progresses or the more I do. I did go to gynecologist but she thought I needed to see GI specialist thought it was bowel related. Went for ultrasound but know that does not check out the intestine. Anyways was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this? I only have a small portion of my large bowel left so I am a little anxious that it maybe cancer again just not sure if pain is associated with a cancer reoccurance since I did not have pain with the initial cancer diagnoises.

Colonoscopy
Have you had a colonoscopy lately. That could rule out a good deal such as IBS, diverticulitis and other issues. You should check with the GI and see about getting that done if it has been awhile. Good luck and hope you feel better. By the way, welcome to the board, and let us know what you find out.

I had pain on the right hand lower side, many ultra sounds, they said IBS etc etc. You have to ask for a colonoscopy, that will tell the real story. please do it.

Wishing you a sense of Hope and Courage as you see your doctors and hoping the pain is something simple to fix.
Kim,
I too am worried about my first 3 month scan after completing Folfox. How often as part of a surveillance plan does one have a colonoscopy?

Have you been checked for a Hernia? I had pain a few hours after eating and the bloating happpened on one side. The pain was the intestine when full pushing through the abdominal wall and the bloating was when I was getting rady to go to he bathroom.0 -

That could be very possible. I also have a friend who is a nurse and she said it could even be twisted or have some scar tissue since my surgery...I guess I will find out tomorrow what the Doc says, I need to stop worrying so much seems like I always jump to the worst conclusion!
I will let everyone know after I find out, thanks for responding and I look forward to talking more with everyone:)0 -

My first one was my diagnosis in November, 2008 then surgery, second colonoscopy in June, 2010, flex sig this month and then he said another colonoscopy next June. Guess it all depends. My doctors seem very vigilant about testing, which is good, but some don't test but every three years. Good luck on the scan. Congratulations on completing Folfox too, that oxy is a bugger.
