Git it done and over with
The stylist did not give me a complete buzz cut. She left some short hair up top. Kind of like the cut you would give a toddler. I look like a Spring chicken. She said it was the cut she gave her family member when they had cancer. She did pretty good with me....considering I was crying the whole time.
I tried to prepare for it. I did things with my hair I would not normally have done. I experimented and had fun with it. I mean it was just going to fall off right? It was just hair.
The hair falling out in other places of the body gave me warning, still I was unprepared for the emotions. I am not vain. My hair is not my crowning glory. It is just something else this has taken over. So...I am hoping this hair will fall out quick. I have a "git it done" attitude about it. I just want this whole thing over.
Has anyone henna tattoed their scalp after the hair fell out?

I did pretty much the same
I did pretty much the same thing, in two steps. First, I cut my long hair to shoulder length and let my daughters straighten it, something they had been wanting to do for a long time. One of them burned my ear very nicely! I loved the straight hair, something I pined for as a teenager. Second, the morning I woke up with hair on my pillow, I had my husband use his hair grooming kit to do an "almost" buzz cut. Everyone thought that was very cute, and I actually liked it too. It really showed off my earrings, and the lovely burn on my ear
You may want to hold off on the henna tattoo. As chemo progressed, my scalp developed small red bumps that were tender, and I was told that this was common. At least ask your doctor before doing anything involving dyes of any kind. It can't hurt to play it safe.0 -

I was crying too. My hubby shaved my head before chemo. After my first tx. little hairs feel out in my chemo cap that I wear to bed. I love my chemo caps as they look like the hats newborns war in the hospital. It was wery hard to look in the mirror and see my face,no eyebrows or lashes a d no hair. My color was very pale so I always wore lipstick. I hear a lot of woman went to the look good feel good class and it helped them. They give you wigs and scarves and show you how to apply make-up. Look into this. Yes I agree get er done!!..val0 -
It was the loss of my
It was the loss of my "femininity" that upset me the most. Losing the hair the first time kinda left me feeling stunned and emotionless and eventhough it wasn't nice it seemed like "just ONE more thing in the cancer saga" So I wasn't overly upset the first time.
However, when I lost my hair the second time I was deflated and hated it. I would look in the mirror and really hate my reflection - especially since my eye brows and eye lashes fell out. I looked like an ugly old man.
However again, my hair is now growing back and my husband tells me I have the look of a "**** (lesbian)" and yes I must admit as I look in the mirror he is right.
What I am trying to say is none of the hair loss thing is nice but now I have been through the whole cycle I have to agree that the best time is when you are completely bald where you have still got your eye brows and eye lashes. I had my photo taken at this stage and I put on my usual make up. I didn't like it at the time but I came across the photo the other and I did look the best I've looked in ages.
