Maybe try working out?
Maybe try working out? Walking or Hiking or Stretching. Something to kind of tire you out a bit. Then take a long hot shower or get a massage. I know it is easier said than done, but the more relaxed you are the easier the mammogram will be.
If the discomfort is too much try taking a motrin or some pain releaver you are able to take about an hour before the exam. It will not change the exam.
Try to find a way to be more comfortable with the tech. Some techs will put you more at ease than others. It isn't always how qualified they are. Usually it is some particular thing that you find more competent or comfortable about the person.
Once you find what works, please share the information!

I have never really had that much trouble having the mamogram itself done, I am just stressed because it has been a year since my last one and I had bilateral BC. Since my diagnosis I have only had one other mamogram and due to some kind of weird glitch where some radiologist somewhere wrote on my records that I should only have one a year. My surgeon said that I would have one every 6 months for a few years before going back to once a year.
My radiation dr and oncologist had also wanted me to get one every 6 months. I have been stressing about what all could have gone on in a year...0 -

gym, walking .. reorganizing my home -- LOL. Stress is a -- energy zipper, it takes our mind to places that it should never go.
Amazing how any bi-yearly, annual test or procedure pushes any one of us over the edge. Try to hang in there, as we will all be praying and sending your positive thoughts.
Strength, Courage and Hope.

Ugh, scanxiety!
We all suffer from it. More chocolate, pop a comedy in the DVD, call a friend, go for a walk.
Have a 'theme party' on the big pink bus. What shall it be - a luau? A sock hop? An ice cream social? Wine & cheese tasting? Or shall we just compare chocolates - Godiva or Lindt or Ghiradelli?

Then how about the scrap book you started, the quilt, putting all those pictures in frames so you can hang them or all that music you want to put on your I-pod. Does the dog need a bath?
Just no hair pulling! I don't know about you but I am more attached to what little hair I have.
All the best this week!

1 more day
They called to confirm the appt for tomorow... Uggh! At least by this time tomorow it will be over. I kept the kids out of daycare today to try to keep my mind off of things and because I am stronger when I am with them. I have been doing house work and yard work. Anything to keep me busy... I am just praying that I get an all clear. I am just like a ball of mush inside, but on the outside I am acting strong........ I haven't even told anyone except you that I have a mamogram tomorow. I don't want to field the calls from my friends because it will make me think about it more. I am so anoyed with myself for being so stressed out about this. I wish that it was only 6 months since my last mamogram instead of a year...... Where did I put that chocolate bar???0 -

Just keep breathing and keep the chocolate bar handy cause in my world that's the best stress therapy (you can tell by my hips).
Let us know how it goes, and we all know you'll be fine.

LOL... Now don't you feel better that you finally got to meet NED. He knew he could wait a year because there were others with dance cards he needed to punch before yours. Congratulations and as far as I am concerned eat the whole damn bag of chocolates, you deserve it. I might even have some tonight to help you celebrate...
Woohoo,
