studies - request for help

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 primary peritoneal/ovarian cancer 2 years and 2 months ago at the age of 62(although she turned 63 within weeks of her diagnosis). Her presenting symptom was pleural effusion - she thought she had pneumonia and it ended up to be cancer. She has been in chemo for all but 3 months of the past 2 years. Her latest cat scan showed increased lymph nodes and quarter size spots on the surface of her liver. She is also having increased ascites and lymphodema. Up to now, she has been considered stable.

With this evidence of progression, she is looking into studies more seriously than before. She called MD Anderson(in TX?) and is going to consider whether the studies they are offering will offer potential help to her. We live in the Chicago area. Is anyone in a study or aware of studies showing true potential for this type of cancer?

    Clinical Trials
    Hi,
I logged onto the Canadian Cancer society sends me monthly updates on clincial trials. I foAmerican Cancer Society Clinical Trials Matching Service

The American Cancer Society Clinical Trials matching Service is a free, confidential program that helps patients, their families and health care workers find cancer clinical trials most appropriate to a patient's medical and personal situation. Through a partnership with the Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups, we can help you find research studies that are testing new drugs or methods to prevent, detect or treat cancer. Read our privacy policy for the clinical trials matching service before you get started.

In just a few minutes, you can learn more about clinical trials that are relevant to your situation. First, log on to our website and complete a online screening questionnaire. The information you provide will be matched against the eligibility requirements for the studies in our database.& You will then be able to view the treatment summary and contact information for the clinical trials for which you might be eligible. If you are interested in learning more about a particular study, you can then contact the treatment center directly to speak with a study coordinator. Your search will be saved, so you can come back at any time to review the studies or update your questionnaire.

The American Cancer Society also has clinical trial specialists who are trained to answer questions about clinical trial participation, and to open the door to treatment options available through research studies. If you have questions about clinical trials or need help completing the questionnaire, please call 1-800-303-5691 to speak with one of our specialists.

    Hi Eileen
I have just noticed your post. I am really excited and so hope you can find something to help your mum. Unfortunately I am over in the UK and there are no trials here. Please let me know how you get on.
