UTI/Bladder Infection
I had problems with either a kidney stone (never had them before) or an "inflamed bladder". That was 3 years ago. I was not undergoing any type of therapy and it had been years since I had any surgeries.
I went to a urologist who did all the tests (blood, chemical, urine) as well as the invasive scope and he said he thought it was neurological as my kidneys, uretha (sp?), bladder, etc. were all normal, showed no inflammation, etc.
We now suspect that was the beginning of my thyroid and adrenal glands not working properly. My doctors did put me on macrodantin for the constant "urge". I was on that for 3 years until I "crashed" at the hospital in January and February of this year (when they found out about the thyroid and adrenals).
I do know that women are more prone to bladder and uti infections due to the short uretha that we have. It is easier for us to get infections than for men, but my husband had a UTI years ago, so perhaps it is not uncommon for men to get them too?

I have
As you know I am a caregiver but I can share my experience. I have had them about 3 or 4 times. The first one I had I did not know. I do not get all of the normal syptoms, I just get sick. I have gotten antibiotics, but the last time the made me sick and dizzy. Now when I think I have one I drink artisan well water from the organic section in Martins. For some reason that makes me feel better and seems to get rid of the infection. My doctor told me that I should drink so much that I just sit in the bathroom. It has helped the last two times.
My dad had one about 2 years ago and it was really bad. He was given anitbiotics and it cleared right up. He has not gotten any since the treatments.0 -

Thanks for the replies. It has gone from bad to worse in the last few days with an allergic reaction to the sulfar prescription. I see the doctor today hopefully to give me another antibiotic but now I'm several days behind this infection. Every man always wishes for a little more down there but not like this! Teresa do you remember how the thyroid would have been related to a UTI. Thats very interesting but what is the connection?0
