As many of you know the FDA is making plans to remove this drug from the arsenal of drugs that can be used for stage 4 patients. I for one have stage 4 triple negative bc and have been on avastin alone almost 2.5 years with no evidence of disease. I have 4 children and husband; I am a nurse who can actually function and work a little now and then. my quality of life has gotten tremendously better. Minimal side effects and Great cancer management. I am writing to ask you to contact your senators, congressman and the FDA specifically to aske them to keep this drug as an option for stage 4 women. we don't have many options as it is and this drug works miracles in some of us. The FDA site has a docket where you can write comments. www.fda.gov; look mid page and you will see avastin hearing. click on that and mid page you will see the docket. If you are part of an oranization or a health care professional make sure to put that and it will show up for all to read. if not, it will be recorded for the fda to read. This is really the time to speak now or forever hold our peace. I am aware this drug doesn't help everyone, but no one is forcing anyone to take it. We just want the option.
I have been asked to speak on behalf of the thousands of women who are thriving on this drug to the FDA at their hearing that is being held in Washington DC on June 28 and 29th. there will also be a peaceful protest on the morning of the 28 at 7am before the first day of testimony gets going. If you know anyone in the area have them sign up to attend the rally at www.fameds.com....If you haven't seen my son's video describing what is going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkSZ__SvxGQ and if you by any chance have not had the chance to sign my petition I started, please do so: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/3/stop-the-fda-from-disproving-avastin-to-treat-metastatic-breast-cancer/
If you are in the area and would like to sit in on he meetings. you can still sign up on the FDA web site. WWW.fda.gov under avastin hearing....Hope to meet some you there.....
We have to stick together and I know alot of you want a voice and cannot get to DC so I am going for you!!!!! Please tell me what avastin has done/not done for you and anything you would like to say....
