Starting a cancer support group
It's fun to be excited about something like this!

What an awesome thing to do!! So many people have no one to talk to. I agree, I think it is your calling....you go girl!
Jennie
I think this is awesome! Maybe I'll check my church to see if they have any of this type of thing or know of some place local that does do it.
Guess I'll also check near where my aunt lives since I feel like I live in PA and in MD equal amounts.
Thank you for posting this Lisa and I wish you all the luck.

Lisa,
I go to a Cancer
Lisa,
I go to a Cancer Prayer and Support group at a local Methodist church. The leader, a survivor, will be presenting at the national (I think) or regional Methodist annual meeting. Any one is welcome. It is a positive experience and we have a core group of 12-15 members. If you want more info I can get it for you. This is a one of a kind group here in our area as most other groups tend to be shy of the faith issues.

Hi Valerie,
Thanks for sharing. Yes, I'd be interested in any info you'd like to share about the group you go to. Could you send me a pm on it?
Thanks in advance!

Hugs to you, Lisa!
Hello Lisa!
I don't chime in so much lately, but I do still lurk to keep up with everyone. You, dearest, are a true cancer warrior! I'm blessed to know you through CSN - YOU ROCK!!! I am so often deeply impressed with you...you not only make lemonade with your lemons, but pie, cake, muffins and all the other things one can make with lemons. Good for you for starting your support group - yes, God is calling! And thank you for answering the call. The world is a better place with you here
Hugs - Katie -

Lisa....this sounds awesome! I want to go too! I have soo much to say......
Love ya, Gail
Thanks everyone for the kind words- I wish you all could come! But... it's been through interactions with all of you on CSN and with other people I have met in my area that have cancer that are prompting me to do this. I do like to help others but, honestly, it really helps me to help others- I get so much out of having discussions with others and letting people have a sounding board. I don't get much of that at home myself & so I know that others have this need and many have it much more so than I do.
Love and hugs to you all-

dear lisa,
Did you notice the irony that I ended my support group because I could not get any help to run it. thats life for me. best of luck, me prayers are for your success with your group.

Hi Pete,
I did read your post about having to end your group. I hope and pray that I won't run into the same problems. Looks like I probably won't get it going until mid August. I'm wanting it to be the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month & my vacation/cruise will interfere, so my pastor and I agreed that let's give it some time to get organized, get word out, and get past my vacation. I'll let you know then how it goes.
That's too bad about your group. Maybe it will pick up again at a later time.

Wish I Was In Your Area. . .
because I'd come but the cities you mentioned don't sound familiar. . .?
I'm new here and I am guessing you must have joined some time ago as people seem to know you--and from what I've read you sound like someone I'd love to meet! (And my name happens to be "Lisa" too!).
I hope God blesses your socks off with this group and I will look forward to reading how it is going for you.
God bless!

Hi Lisa,
Wish you were too! Where do you live? I am in southern California in north San Diego county. As I mentioned to Pete above, it looks like the group won't get going until mid August, but I will definitely let you all know how it goes!
By the way, welcome to the board!
Lisa
