Is anybody familiar with a rare form of cancer called GIST? I lost a good friend to this awful thing. It was fast, and seemingly untreatable. Anybody?

I know a little about it
My best friend was diagnosed with a Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor about 7 years ago (2 years after her breast cancer diagnosis and 3 years before her Thyroid Cancer diagnosis. She continues to do well.

It is a rare tumor, often found late, but can be treated, depending on when its found, and how aggressive it is.

I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. I just lost a good friend to Appendix cancer less than 2 years after she was diagnosed. In particular, these rare cancers come up by surprise. (I'm a 4 year survivor of appendix cancer.)
