Advanced Stage Chologiocarinoma ( bile ducts)

Hi all,
My father was diganosed with chologiocarcinoma on sep 2010 in advanced stage as it had metasized to liver and lymph nodes. The tumor is around 8cm in the left lobe and there are some small nodes on the right side too. The doctor advised chemotherapy of cisplatnin and gemcitabine. Doctor used carboplatin instead of cisplatin as my father had some hearing problems. He underwent 4 cycles of chemo but the PET ct scan showed that the tumor in liver had progressed so doctor stopped and did some further testing. One of the marker heppar 1 came back positive so he doubted if it was some type of liver cancer but which was ruled out by other doctors stating that in the biopsy done after chemo there were some degenerative changes on cancer cell which would not have happened if it was liver cancer. Anyways after that he came to US as he wanted to have family potrait so he did that and then when we saw his eyes turning yellow we became scared so we sent him back for treatment of jaundice. Even after stenting procedure he developed liver abscess and now he has swelling in abdomen and legs. Doctors are saying he does not have much time. Any help would be appreciated..

    Thanks for your wishes and support.
    What is the stage of cancer for your mother and what are doctors suggesting. I think in this type they normally give chemo of cisplatin and gemcitabine. I hope god gives the determination to your mother to fight this cancer. I know how tough it is day in and day out to see your parents go through such a horrible disease. Let me know if i could be any help..
