Hi, im new so im gonna let it all out. I first got diagnosed við NPC in my neck and a primary tumor in my nasal cavity, when i was 17, in 2006. I got 4x cisplatin and a few other drugs, cant remember the names, and then the 40+ radio therapy. To this day the doctors cant find anything in the primary area witch they think is cancer. In december 2007 i was diagnosed with metastasis in my liver, lungs, spleen and spine. I had 10x of carbogem/gemcarbo and radiation on my the affected spot, and until 2 weeks ago, everything looked good.

During a routine MRI and CT scans, the doctors saw a suspicious spot in me spleen, they decided to take the spleen out and see if it was cancer, wich it turned out to be. Now im going to have another chemo therapy in case there are cancer cells floating around. But after all i did earlyer, i cant help to feel helpless, after all i have gone through. Why has it come back! The spot in the spleen is in a place near another spot where a big metastasis used to be, but it is clear now after the radiation, but the new spot seems to have been there for a year(the doctors didnt spot it until now). This is the third time i get diagnosed with this horrible sickness. I am affraid that there are still cells who will for metastasis in other places

Are people here with stories like mine NPC, is there hope, since 10 cycles of carbogem didnt work, is there anything else i can try?

    Hi Kari
First welcome to the family here on CSN, sorry to hear about you cancer but glad you found us. I too am NPC mine first started in 2003 and came back in 2005 then again in 2006. I did radiation for it and the second time radiation and chemo, the side effects are very bad but I am thankful that I am still here. My last PET scan showed a spot still active in my nasal but I just try and keep a high alkaline in my body and my last visit to my ENT said the area is looking very good.

I am not sure why this stuff keeps coming back on us like it does. I have found changing my diet does help and doing some other things with natural herbs to boost my body immune system also helps. Keep fighting and don’t give up, there are a lot of other NPC survivors here and glad you are here with us.

    Wishing you the best

    Hi everyone,

Well I have been recently diagnosed with NPC and reading alot of the great information that you guys have on here has helped quite alot.

I have had two MRI's, CT, and OPG and have a PET scan scheduled for this week. Not good news so far as it is classified as T4 but now just hoping it has not spread elsewhere.

Anyway, just wanted to pass on my appreciation for all the learnings that you guys have shared.
