Plastic Surgery
Well, I'll see. Now there is another thing, most of the people tell me that if Iam having an implant I should get both, even when my cancer is in the right one only... so far. Still waiting for the genetic test, if is positive the story will change, then I must have both.
People say that I will look weird with one implant, breasts will have not the same shape and if I am in the operation table take advantage and fix both. It will be silicon because I have no meat where to cut )
Any comments? suggestions? advices?
After this appointment the doctors will give a date for the surgery: mastectomy and reconstruction.... I am scared but waiting is killing me!!!!!
Thank you all..... Blessings

It is a personal decision
There are so many amazing surgeons out there that can give you tons of options! The decision you make is just that ~ YOURS! You have to do whatever makes you happy. The choice that you want to live with. It's a scary decision, but know that you can make it thru this.
If you are not totally comfortable with implants and think that you have no other choice, go check out

They have options for women without much/any belly fat ~ these doctors are THE BEST!!!!! He can take tissue from you butt/hip area. These are the surgeons I used and I choose to get a bilateral (only had a tumor in my rt breast) with implants because I have a 2 year old and didn't want a very long recovery. I couldn't be any happier ~ I look amazing and the bedside manor of these doctors are AMAZING!!!!!0 -

Like the others said it's a personal decision. I made the choice of removing both my breasts (tumor in left only) and starting implant reconstruction for three reasons.
1. Later on I don't want to go through this process again if I develop cancer in my milk ducts on my right breast.
2. Because I was large breasted, I would have a better symmetrical pair if my plastic surgeon started on a level playing field. If I got an implant in my left, he would have had to do a breast reduction on the right. I think we all know that my girls would look as different as night and day.
3. And last but not least, when I am 85 years old and sitting in my room in the nursing home, I don't want one boob standing at attention and the other banging off of my belly.
Most of all, my husband suggested I do the bilateral mastectomy. Through his blessing and love and support, it was a no brainer for me. I hope your decision comes easy for you my dear and you are at peace with it.

Same here as Lorrie. I had IDC in my right breast, was diagnosed last summer at age 34. I chose to have both breasts removed & tissue espanders put in to stretch my skin/muscle for silicone implants. For many of the same reasons as Lorrie. I don't want to have to go through this again, and I would get the best physical outcome by having both removed & reconstructed, rather than just 1. I'm all done with all phases of reconstruction now and extremely pleased with the outcome. My breasts look better now than they did before I was diagnosed, and i had some pretty impressive boobies then The surgery was not at all as difficult/painful as I had imagined. But, you have to do what you feel is best in your heart. Best of luck to you in your decision making
*hugs*

HI, I just had my right
HI, I just had my right removed but I opted for both implants to make it more symmetrical. I kept picturing a 44 yr old boob and a newborn, didn't like the thought of gravity only pulling one in the wrong direction. This way they are the same size even if there is only one headlight!
I think it is just personal preference. I wish I would have gone with silicone because my saline is like ruffles have ridges:)
Good luck on whatever you decide.0 -
Plastic Surgery
THANK YOU and thank you again... that's what I needed to hear, thanks girls.... everyone is having an opinion around me, but nobody has gone through this. I feel better now, God Bless everyone. I love the sense of humor hahaha I thought about all of that, having one boob like a model and the other just hanging there ) hahaha
Love you gals.... thanks again ) I'll keep you posted about my surgery...0 -
I had
BRACA gene testing and even though it was negative decided on bilateral mastectomy. I met with plastic surgeon before surgery and he said I could have reconstruction at a later date if that is what I wanted. If you decide to only have one breast removed the ps could make both the old and new match. Find out your options and it will be easier to make a decision.
