Linda thank you for starting this. I too have been worried about Dawne. Buddy I hope you are doing well since your second surgery. Are you doing rads now or another dose of chemo first? Thinking about you...

Hi ya'll, I'm here but I haven't been getting on the board lately. A lot has happened since my surgery on April 26. I needed time to reflect and remember that God is bigger than inflammatory breast cancer. I was told that I developed more cancer, however that's not entirely true. I had residual cancer... big difference. However, I had a PET scan last week and my onc told me that there is a small spot on my liver that he will watch. I may have to do chemo again after rads if the spot has grown. I will start rads in about a couple of weeks.
I am still trying to get over surgery. My left arm is still sore and stiff but I am exercising it several times a day. My chest is tight and burns at time, but I just tell myself it's because I'm healing.
Oh my goodness, my hair is starting to come back!!! I love it and can't wait till I get my thick blonde hair back. Right now a newborn baby has more than I do, but I can actually see the hair and when I look in the mirror I see a shadow, it's not shiny anymore It was hard for me 4 weeks ago when I had my surgery and my husband saw my bald head for the first time. He just looked at me and said that I am still the most beautiful lady he has ever seen.
I have missed ya'll and I promise not to stay away again. I just had a lot to digest and I was too depressed to post. Thanks for checking on me.
Hugs and God Bless,

Hey Lorrie,
I didn't have a second surgery. I had a left radical and a right simple mastecomy on April 26. I will start rads in a couple of weeks. No chemo yet. I will have another PET scan after 30 treatments of rads and if the spot on my liver has grown then I will have to go back through chemo. I am praying that the spot on my liver is nothing.
I hope you are doing well and rads isn't kicking your booty. I have been thinking about you.
Hugs,

I'm doing well buddy... Week two of rads starts tomorrow. I am so happy to hear you have found an inner peace. Your husband sounds like a wonderful man... You are one lucky lady there Mrs. Dawne.
As for the hair starting to pop through... It was only a short couple of months ago I was doing the exact same thing. Constantly looking in the bathroom mirror each morning to see if I could notice any new change. Four months after my last chemo my hair is about an inch long. I finally put away my ball caps and have resorted to a spiky gel do each morning. Funny... after the bottle this weekend, I am a blonde too. LOL
I don't know what made me think you had to have a second surgery, but I am relived to hear that is not the case. You've been through too much already. I'm praying the rads take care of the spot on your liver. Come and join us in the "Radiation Room" once you start. We have quite the party going on in that thread. LOL
Hugs buddy,

Sounds like you've been through the ringer since your surgery. Hope you've recovered now and are ready to start radiation and I so hope you don't have to do another round of chemo, but know you'll do it if you have to.
My very best to you,

Hey Dawne,
Thanks for letting us know you're ok. I'm praying the spot on the liver is a false positive, but I'm glad your doc is watching it. It sounds like you're taking good care of your arm.
I'm glad the hair is coming back! I was very happy to see that peach fuzz even though it was on my face too. Your husband is a wonderful man.
You stay in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care and big hugs,

Dawne--Glad to hear from you. My hair now looks like a hair cap. My scalp doesn't even show anymore. And my granddaughter likes to rub my head because the hair is silky. I'm not sure how much I like the rubbing...it kind of makes me think of my dog....:)0 -
