Keep up on your appts!!
I know I haven't checked in for quite awhile....I do read everyones posts when I have time though. I decided to just try to live life and forget about cancer for awhile. Unfortunately, that is not someone else's plan. When going for my recent scan to check lung, liver, pelvic area, they found a lump on my breast. I truly thought they had the wrong results. I have never had anything come up on my breast, or so I thought. But, apparantely a spot they had seen before grew. Off they sent me for mammo, ultrasound, and then a biopsy! As I'm sure you can all imagine, I was completley freaked out!!!
Well it came back Stage 1, grade 3 invasive ductal breast cancer. So now, just one year and a few months since my liver resection, I am once again facing many decisions.
I am sharing this with you, NOT for sympathy, although I can never get enough prayers, but to tell you to keep up on all of your appts! Had I not gone in for my routine scan, who knows how advanced this would have become....but mostly to say since I was diagnosed with anal cancer, I slacked off of my mammograms, that I had religously had every year since I was 40. I just felt like I had been poked & messed with enough, and surely I would not get breast cancer too!!! Well I'm here to tell you.....so not slack off!!! I have now had 3 primary cancers in 3 years, but still feel blessed as they have all been stage 1.
Bound to keep a smile on my face as I begin yet another journey! Wish all of you love and healing always!!

HI Sue!
You certainly seem to keep getting dealt some bad cards--damn cancer, enough already! You are absolutely right--all of us need to keep up with all the necessary, and not so pleasant, tests and check-ups in addition to those related to anal cancer. I am really sorry that you are having to deal with this disease once again, but I know you'll whip it's ****, just as you have in the past! You are such a strong person and I know you're not going to let this get you down. Keep smiling and know that many are behind you cheering you on, including me! You can rock this, Sue! Sending you love, hugs and many, many prayers.0 -

Hi Sue, I am sorry for your recent mamogram results. Thank goodness it is stage 1. I just had my mammogram after a 2 year hiatus, due to all the other txs I have had. I had the anal Stage 1 4-23-09, the the Lung Stage 1 9-23-10. And I too have fortunately had both primary and not mets, thank god. I know you will take care of this too, and this should be the last one you have to deal with as you have had your share. I am so glad that mine were caught early too, my next lung ct is in July. I wish us all well. Lori0 -

Were both of your cancers squamous cell?0 -
checkups
Thanks for posting. I would have been diagnosed much earlier had I gone for annual pelvic exams which I stopped 7 years ago when the gynecologist said she didn't hurt me during the exam after I told her she hurt me. I showed her! Seven years later a 10.8 cm mass and multiple cystic masses within the pelvis bowel.I should have gone to another doctor for another checkup. But you are so admirable. Was your lung squamous cell and does your breast have anything to do with squamous cell cancer?0 -

Both of my cancers were squamous. The reason they said the lung cancer was primary was because there was no HPV detected in the nodule, whereas, in the anal cancer tumor there was hpv. My theory for the lung cancer is I was a 35 year smoker until the anal cancer dx, and when I went throught tx for the anal cancer, my immune system couldn't fight off the lung nodule cancer. Just my opinion. As I know that cancer can be caused by constant inflammation. I wish you well. Lori0 -

I too had not gone to any drs from 2003 until April of 09. I didn't have any papst, mammos, blood work, nothing. I turned 50 in Feb 09 and started falling apart lol. Well now I am getting my check ups. Lori0 -

I am sorry to hear you are having to deal with this again, but you are lucky to have found it at an early stage. Fight strong, you can beat this once again. Hugs and lots of prayers. Pam

I think we are lucky to have found out so we can get treatment. Stage 1 sounds great to me right now since I realize I'm at least stage 3. Oh Lord, I don't know if it's even treatable at 10.8 centimeters but the doctor will know and I just have to wait and see. I am praying for us all.0 -
Hi Sue. I am so sorry you
Hi Sue. I am so sorry you are going through this again. I have faithfully kept up my appointments (except for the annual pap when I was told I didn't need any since my cervix and other reproductive parts were removed). In retrospect I should not have listened to that and continued going but...it is what it is. I have a mammogram coming up in June, around the same time as my 9 month scan and DRE. As usual, will hold my breath until all tests come back and hopefully come back normal. I will be praying for you and please keep posting in here to let us know how you are. Marilyne0 -

Thanks ladies for all your kind words and support! This site has always been such a blessing to all of us. I am still researching options for treatment. Just not sure I can do the chemo thing again! I'll try to visit more often. I don't have a computer at home, and can't always get on at work, but I think of all of you often, and keep you in my prayers. There is power and strength in numbers, and I feel ya all!!!
Keep up the SURVIVING and livin life!!!0 -

I saw your name popup and I came over to check you out. I was going to tell you that my results from this last year of fighting will be in next week and I will post the results. I just did my scan yesterday.
Then, I saw your news and it popped my bubble. I am so sorry that you are now facing this. The good news I can gleam from this is the fact that you mentioned it was Stage I and if we have to pick a stage then that's a good number to start with.
I'll be checking in and wishing you the best.

So nice to see you!!! I rarely go on the colon boards any longer. Talk to Kathy P offline, but always wonder about you! Always appreciate hearing from you. I know you have fought this battle many a time, and know I have you for company!!!
Will be waiting to see your results. Will you post on the anal board as well??
And Craig, after everything you have been through, would love your thoughts on alternative vs standard treatment.0 -

Sandy,
I just wanted to let you know that I am pulling for you. I had a 14 inch tumor(half in me, half out), varying in size from 1" around to 3" around. They also removed several polyps. I was told I was stage 3a...starting into stage 3b, and they hoped they caught it all in time. I just want you to know that a 10.8 is scary, but it can be defeated. Keep the faith and hope alive. Sending lots of positive energy your way.
Sue,
I am sorry you are having to go through cancer again. Cancer SUCKS! I have also had two cancers, but I believe we are tough divas and can make it through anything. Our follow up appointments are eccential to our health continuing to stay well. I am glad you were on top of your appointments and this cancer was found quickly. Great job!0 -
