What a fantastic idea! Sounds like a great summer project for me too. Someone suggested parenting advice. What about marriage advice?
Nancy
OMG Joe, they will never admit I am their Mom then!!!! LOL
I thought about getting cards to give them on special days like graduation marriage, birth of a child, ya know just in case and leave them with my mom or sister to give to them??? Not sure I'd be so good in the marriage advice department 2 marriages down the dumps and I worked as a divorce paralegal LOL
this is fun & sad!!1

I have a few suggestionsLVG said:I am just learning to
I am just learning to scrapbook, and this sounds like an awesome/beautiful idea.
Include historical events that happened when they were little.
Keep a journal on each child. Describe something they did , and tell how it made you feel as their mom. Name their greatest character traits, and how cool you think they are as your kids. -

I have a journal (not really a journal but more like short little entries) for both of my kids that I started when they where born and I put in it things they do that makes me laugh (all positive things, nothing sad or mean. just fun, cute and funny stuff). They are now 4 and 7 and they sometimes ask me to read them something from their book. It is so much fun. I do love to scrapbook but I have not done much since my daughter was born almost 5 years ago. I am hoping that I will have more energy after radiation is finished. -
Libby i have little
Libby i have little notebooks that i started for my girls, and i just write little tidbits for them from time to time. When Doodie does or says something really funny, I'll write it in there along with the date. When Camryn & I have an argument, I'll write to her about it so when she's older she can see where mom was coming from. I also made time capsules for both of my girls on their 2nd birthdays for them to open when they're 18. They're full of cards, small gifts from friends & family, newspapers from their birthday, all kinds of stuff. I really like scrapbooking, i was surprised that i even got into it. I'm working on one right now for my best friend's husband -my bff is my cousin & her husband is my "2nd best friend", so im putting together something really special for him

Scrap book
I think for my kids I will leave a good many of my spritual writings. Some will read them and I am sure at least one of them will just shelve the writings.
If I were to start on my grandchildren I would start with stories about them. I noticed that each of the grandkids seems to have a couple of stories about themselves that they really like. I would make that a take out section of the scapbook with pictures, icons, or the other scapbooking items that correspond to the story. Becuse we come from a Native American background, stories are a way that we pass on information and show our family members what thier or our character is like. Of course this is an oral tradtion mostly but I also like to write and document things so it seems more like proof. -
Just today
I saw on Oprah a family she had on years ago where the mom had bc. She taped messages and made things for her daughter to remember her by. Her daughter was 6 when she died and is now a student at college. I think it's wonderful to leave something for your children to remember the journey you lived through bc. I have kept a journal since I was dx. I am a scrapbooker and have one All About Me where I'll put pictures I've had taken and notes about my feelings. I personally think putting thoughts down on paper helps the healing process. And this site has been a godsend.

I did photo stories for each of my boys with "momism's" included. Can't have them forget all the important things that I have been telling them over and over for 20+ years. (laugh)
They both loved them!
Great idea! Your kids will love this!
