conflicting pathology reports
last week the nurse from the oncol. office wanted me to sign a release form so that they can have their pathologist look at the biopsy
today my dr calls, of course i didn't hear the phone ring and missed the call, but she left on my voicemail that the pathology report has come back and that it better than we first thought!
It's driving me crazy... is it possible for them to misdx cancer all together?
let me know what your thoughts are, thanks\

            conflicting reports
Hi Jonnie it is Sitchy57, I talked to you on CSN Chat a bit ago. I also had conflicting path. reports. I had a D&C and laproscopic surgery and during the surgery my right ovary was removed with a fairly large tumor. They also did a biopsy of my uterus. The path report came back saying endometrial cancer of the uterus and ovary. I was sent to a doctor in another city that would do my hyst and debulking surgery. This doctor is a gyn. and onc., he took the tissues from my uterus and ovary and retested them. The result was that I had 2 different cancers, meaning that my cancer was not a stage 3 but a stage 1 for both cancers. Big difference in path. reports. Call doctors office first thing in the morning. Sharon

Let me know what you hear from the doctors office. It must be pretty good if they leave a message like they did. Prayers Sharon

So happy to hear that there is good news coming your way! I sure would be curious to find out why there was a mix-up, at least for the record. In the meantime, keep us informed - I will anxiously awaiting the 'good news'!

Jonnie, that must have thrown you, to say the least. I really hope we hear from you soon with whatever the news was!

            Pathology
I think they only get a preliminary report at first. I was going on my third chemo treatment when my Dr. told me I had fallopian tube cancer not ovarian. Huh? The treatment is the same and has similar outcomes. I didn't process what she told me until much later. it s extremely rare other than that it is pretty much the same as ovarian.
I hope your news is very good !

the origional after the 1st surgery was atypical , then the final report said epithelial mucosist, my dr requested a second report and it said low mal. tumor, so she sent it to mda and i am still waiting on the results. when they come in we will do a (i think it is called a debulking surgery) where they will inspect every organ remove omentum and biopsy everything
just ready to get the show on the road. the waiting and unknown is hard for me

Sorry that you are in this uncertain place...I was hoping they misdiagnosed the whole cancer diagnosis, too.

No, I was hoping YOUR cancer was misdiagnosed--for me, it was pretty clear from my pathology report that I had cancer. What wasn't clear to me was the surgeon said that I had "carcinomatosis" --I still don't know if that is an extension of OVCA or an additional problem. Whatever it is, it's not good.
I had looked up carcinomatosis on the Internet & was resigned to a death sentence but I think it is possible to live with it for quite a while.
I decided to quit worrying about it since everything is quiet in my belly now.
