has it really been 3 years?
May 20, 2008 I had the colonoscopy that said colon cancer
I remember being in shock for a very long time. My first grandchild was born on May 16, 2008 and he kept me grounded. My sweet Andy, who is now 3 and a ton of fun!
I got 2 opinions- the first one with a colorectal surgeon who basically said I could wait a bit, his first opening was in JULY. Nah, I went to Mayo 2 days later- had everything done and surgery was on for June 9th. My colon obstructed in the middle of the night- I was pumped full of morphine at the local ER and transported to Mayo. My surgeon, Dr. Chua and her Angels met me and went right to work. I called them Chua's Angels.
6 months of chemo- that was horrid.
take down surgery in Feb 09
hernia repair in Aug 09
And since then, just been living my life. One foot in front of the other. Grateful for my life, my children and that Andy-bear.
And so far, I am NED.
And that's all folks.

one foot in front of the other
One foot in front of the other, eyes looking forward with expectation and never looking back except to look on fond memories! One more day for three years since your dx and no reoccurrence - CONGRATULATIONS!
For my date marker I am using the date of chemo completion, January 27, 2010. In my eyes I was given a fresh start from that point. I am one happy camper and you should be too! Grandkids are great!0 -
living your life!
Woohoo! on "since then, I've been living my life".
It's amazing to look back on all we've been through during the cancer journey, huh? This August 7th, it will be 4 years for me since my diagnosis. Hard to think back and realize all that's transpired since then. Still in the fight, but I've grown so much as a person and in spite of all the bad that cancer has brought, there has definitely been a lot of good during this time, too.
Keep on living life, Pattee & congrats on the continuing NED status!
Hugs,
