CT scan after 2 rounds of chemo

Mom is scheduled for a CT of her pelvis and abdomen tomorrow afternoon. I wait with both fear and hope. We have a care meeting scheduled with her gyn/onc on Tuesday evening. My sister and I are expecting the worst, but desperate for the best. The ascites is back and building, she has been drained twice now. It makes me fear the chemo is not working as it should be. I am hoping that surgery will be an option at some point, that her doctor will tell us something. It has been two months now and we still have so few answers about all of this.

Everyone here has been wonderful and offered encouragement and advice. Just keep Aleta (mom) in all of your thoughts, that her CT shows some progress and we are moving in the right direction.

Thank you!

    new?
Are you new to the discussion board? I am sorry. I don't keep up with the posts as often as I should.

My mom is 64 and has been dealing with stage 4 primary peritoneal/ovarian cancer for 2 years now. Her most recent chemo meds seemed to meet their edge and now she is having more symptoms. She started a new chemo, Abraxane, which is a type of taxol, a week and a half ago. Her fluid(ascites) is building in her abdomen and lung(s).

Sounds like we are in a similar boat. If I don't check the board soon, feel free to email me at ejward@ameritech.net.

    Take care,
    Eileen

    Hello
    Hi Anita and Eileen,
I will keep all of our Moms in my thoughts and prayers. My Mom gets her ct results tomorrow. Her last scan was March 8th which showed no progression of the tumour. We are really hoping that there is something positive said tomorrow since all news has been negative since her diagnois June 2010.
I pray the clinical trial is doing some good.

I am newer to the boards.
I am newer to the boards. Mom was just diagnosed in February and we are still scrambling to figure all of this out.
She had stage 3 cervical cancer 19 years ago, so while cancer is not a new thing in our lives, this is just so much scarier. It may also be that I was alot younger and understood a whole lot less.
What is frustrating is that in the beginning they said uterine and all of her scripts have a dx of OVCA. So we really don't have a clue. She has an awesone gyn/onc and he treated her 19 years ago. He will take on patients that other surgeons will not touch, he takes pride in the really hard cases.
There has been no surgery yet, so we don't know what stage the cancer is at, probable 3 or 4 from what we have heard. He did say it is adenocarcinoma and her fluid is malignant. I know that much and it has been enough to scare me terribly.

Kelly and Eileen, I will your moms in my thoughts and prayers. I know how hard all of this is and I am sitting here at the beginning of what will be a long journey.

    Thank you both!
