I'm of the opinion that blood in the poop should ALWAYS be checked out. Call the doctor just to check, okay?
*hugs*

While I was doing radiation I had a want for cashews and pecans. So I decided to eat a handful of them. This was about in my 4th or 5th week of radiation. When they decided to come out (this is when I still had my normal features) they cut me like shards of glass and I bled like a stuck hog. It took me a week and steroids and pain pills to get over that little scenario. So, it may very well be something he passed that cut him inside. Nuts, seeds, anything that does not decompose through the intestine completely could tear or cut on its way out. Radiation will make it as tender and super sensitive to everything that passes the gate. Hopefully that's all it is but be sure the Dr knows as well........buzz0 -

Popcorn which causes diarrhea (pepecn learned that one the same as a few of us) can also cause the same problem as the nuts. (Just so you know)
But again, talk to the doc in the morning.
Thinking about you two.

radiation can cause it
Radiation can cause the rectum to be overly sensitive to anything hard in the stools- including the stools themselves. Definitely mention it to the doc, but don't get overly worried. I was even told radiation can cause the blood vessels to be close to the surface of the tissue and when the stool rubs over it, it can bleed easily. Not saying that's what it is- he'll have to talk to the doc and have it checked out, but just saying it can be for a number of reasons so don't get too alarmed.
Take care-

Is it fresh and very little, blood? are you sure are not roids? l got roids very often while in chemo, i don't know whether it is 5fu, irino, or avastin, but very often so if he is in 24H chemo it woudnt me surprise to be something to do with roids! Any way check with docs!.

Not a problem !!!plh4gail said:Well, I've learned something
Well, I've learned something new on this one. I never had any blood and sure no constipation. Way too much diarrhea but no blood. Blood from the bottom scares me cause that was my problem at diagnosis. Thanks for the lesson
Gail

Your price has gone up in the last couple of years, LOL:)
Used to be 39.95 - "Payable in Skittles"
Have I got a memory or what?
Take care, Dr:)0 -
Yup
I've had it and still do especially when going to the bathroom many times. Last January after insisting on a flex scope because of the blood you could see what seemed like hundreds of blood vessels right at the surface and bright red. My surgeon said this was due to the radiation and as of this year he still isn't concerned about it. Better to get it checked out because just getting a peace of mind is worth it.

Price went up because of my re occurence...more Dr bills means I need more money for co pays....Skittles just wasn't cuttin it....I figure $39.95 is still a bargain based on the economy these days......OK fine, $20 and a Snickers...Hows that ? and yeah, great memory with me, but let the wife ask you to mow the lawn...bet ya forget to do that don't ya ? Huh Huh ?...Thats what I thought...selective memory, all men have it, most married men use it..........LOL..........Take care...buzz0 -
