dance music
I would play 10 minutes of loud meaningless dance club type music before I would go in for treatment...it would still be playing around in my head throughout treatment. my mom always asked me if I wanted something more sedate or calming, I told her, no...I want something that gets my blood pumping and reminds me that I am alive and that I want to dance with my children again very soon. it worked for me! it also kept me feeling upbeat, even when I mentally wasn't.
the one time I didn't listen to it, I ended up bawling in the bathroom after treatment...that only happened once.0 -

by the Eagles has become my fight song. I didn't have one during treatment as I pretty much just relied on terror for that. I use it now to accomplish unpleasant goals associated with post treatment and beyond!
I can't say I had just one song. I brought in three CDs and they rotated them for me every day. I still have those play lists saved on my iPod because they are some of my favorite feel good tunes:
Waiting For You- Seal
Alive & Kicking- Simple Minds
Brand New Day-Sting
Break It Down Again- Tears For Fears
Interstate Love Song- STP
Learn To Fly- Foo Fighters
Viva La Vida- Cold Play
Champagne Supernova- Oasis
#2 Dance CD
SOS- Rihanna
All Things Just Keep Getting Better- Wildelife
Groovy Train
Low- Flo Rida
Steal My Sunshine- Len
Wind It Up- Gwenn Stefani
Disturbia- Rihanna
Shake Your Tailfeather
Clumsy- Fergie
Don't Stop The Music- Rihanna
#3
Sowing The Seeds Of Love- Tears For Fears
Life in a Northern Town
Angel- Adam Ant
Back On My Feet Again- The Babys
Wonderful- Adam Ant
Breakout- Swing Out Sister
Chuck E's In love- Ricki Lee Jones
Crash Into Me- Dave Matthews
Fall To Pieces- Velvet Revolver
The first couple of days I went, I tried classical music. It made it drag too much!!!! I like classical, but it wasn't cutting it. When they played the dance tunes, it was hard to stay still. Good tunes made the time go by easier. One day, they forgot to put my disk in, and they had the soundtrack to Mamma Mia in. Good grief!! I would rather stick a red hot poker in my own eye. No offense to anyone who likes it, it wasn't for me. I think that session dragged the most. Lol.
The girls liked my CDs so on my last day, I let them keep them.0 -

Fearless
Hi Jermain,
I listened to so much in the rad room but would have to say Fearless by Pink Floyd. The song is inspirational but also something about Pink Floyd's music cancels out the ringing in my ears from the Cisplatin.
I'm curious about your cancer Jermain. On your "about me" page it says you had cervical cancer yet your name seems like a man's name. Also curious about the support you might need from a head and neck cancer board for cervical cancer. Of course we're here to support any brother or sister with any cancer but we're probably most useful to an H&N survivor. How can we best support you? Thanks for the interesting topics.

Warrior
Metal head here Disturbed's latest album gets me going, from Asylum to Ishfwilf. The best is Warrior (at least to me) Chorus goes
I'm one with the warrior inside
My dominance can't be denied
Your entire world will turn
Into a battlefield tonight
As I look upon you
Through the warrior's eyes
Now I can see the fear
That will ensure my victory this time
Another good one from them is A Welcome Burden. Just my two cents.0 -

Music...my song is Celine's live "Oh Holy Night." Yeah, I know. And Safe And Sound. Reckon it's something about beautiful women and beautiful songs that brings out the best in the #51.

WAR OF MY LIFE!!!
Come out Angels
Come out Ghosts
Come out Darkness
Bring everyone you know
I'm not running
I'm not scared
I am waiting and well prepared
I'm in the war of my life
At the door of my life
Out of Time and there's nowhere to run
I've got a hammer
And a heart of glass
I got to know right now
Which walls to smash
I got a pocket
Got no pills
If fear hasn't killed me yet
Then nothing will
All the suffering
And all the pain
Never left her name
I'm in the war of my life
At the door of my life
Out of time and there's nowhere to run
I'm in the war of my life
At the core of my life
Got no choice but to fight 'til it's done
No more suffering
No more pain
Never again
I'm in the war of my life
At the door of my life
Out of time and there's nowhere to run
I'm in the war of my life
I'm at the core of my life
Got no choice but to fight 'til it's done
So Fight on, fight on everyone, fight on
Got no choice but to fight 'til it's done
I'm in the war of my life
I'm at the core of my life
I've got no choice but to fight 'til it's done. by (John Mayer)0
