My Mom's breast cancer was 1st diagnosed in March of 2010--left upper outer quad, STG I, 1.1-cm. I forget the ER/PR/HER2/neu results but do remember that her OncoDX test results was at a very high risk for recurrence. She had a lumpectomy w/ lymph node dissection, XRT, & Famara.
Almost a year to the date, at the age of 72, her breast came back in the same exact place, only bigger--STG II, 2-cm, same ER/PR/HER2/neu as last year. So this time, she has a simple left mastectomy and just recently started chemo--Taxotere & Cytoxan.

My story is very similar to Janelle's. I had DCIS Stage 0 in 2008 - lumpectomy without clear margins then mastectomy (one side) - no lymph nodes involved. No chemo or radiation. It recurred exactly 2 years later at same spot under mastectomy/reconstruction scar. Two doctors assumed (as did I) that it was scar tissue, but turned out to be invasive, aggressive, Stage 3, triple negative cancer. Had chemo - 4 A/C, 4 Taxol, dose-dense, then another mastectomy? removal of implant and more tissue and 14 lymph nodes - 1 positve. Then 32 radiation treatments. I can't take Tamoxifin or anything else, being triple negative. I am doing well and feeling great.
Let us know what you find, hugs, Linda -

HUGS!
Mom is doing well with her chemo--1st it was Taxotere and Cytoxan. She got 4 of the 6 cycles of it before being switched to Herceptin. I understand that the Herceptin is necessary because of the HER2 being positive. Anywho, she tolerates the chemo treatments very well and her hair is coming back. Only complaints from her--the hair is coming back totally GRAY and the treatments take too long. Prayers that we make it to next summer with the Herceptin every 3 weeks. Not sure if the remaining 2 cycles of Taxotere and Cytoxan will be added in later or not.
Thanks again!!
