After responding so well to carbo, alitma, and avastin, my last pet scan brought devasting news of new cancer spots. Mt dr. has now started me on taxotere. Anyone heard of it and had any success with it? Also, has anyone had their lung tumor radiated? That was the plan for me, but now with the new spots, that plan is shelved for now. I dont undestand this. Would love any feedback. Thanks!

hi JeJohn, i had the tax
hi JeJohn, i had the tax and carbo. 12 treatments. i had 39 radiation treatments every day. when they did my pet scan it had shrunk 30%. I will have another ct tuesday. i dread waiting. i hope your dr. gives you the radiation. it is painless , but you do get very tired. my problem right now is terrible pain. pain meds do not work too well. they are planning on putting in a pain pump. i do not know if i want too go through this, but the pain is all most unbearable. Do you have pain? i do not seee many people talking about pain on here. i hope the doc gives you the rads. i just know it would help. hang in there. i will be praying for you. god bless phoobear0 -

Taxotere
Longtime no hear...Im sorry to hear of your news!
Mom was on that one, that was her 2nd line of TX, however as you might have seen form my posts if there is any side effect anybody is going to get thats her. The TX worked well for her except for the effects you could develope the darkening of the vein where they did TX (now she has a port) she got that, poss. nails falling off and now they are and somemore effects have happened, but its like with the rest of these TX they all have something and we just deal with it. The tumors were shrinking and was having good sucess with it. The only rad she had was WBR, I believe you had as well right?
Keep your head high as you do and you will get through this as well!0 -
tax & radiation
Hello jejohn, I had a tumor, small cell in my right lung that all the veins had wrapped around it and new veins were being rerouted around the tumor. The doctors immediately started radiation treatments and chemo before I had finished all my radiation treatments. I had the taxotere. I was diagnosed Feb, 2007 then pet scan in Oct,2007 and no tumor! With God's blessings and good doctors, the Cancer treatment center, I'm still in remission.
And yes, there was pain, the radiation no only burnt me on the outside but also inside , still have my port due to having Deep Vein Thomosis, so take blood thinners and have blood work every 2 weeks. I hope alittle of my story will help you and give you hope, you have to be strong and have a strong family support to get thru your battles. I have been blessed.0
