Fatigue

Hi,
I am new to this site. I had a successful lumpectomy in December and there was no lymph node involvement, so I feel very lucky. I finished a short session (16) of radiation 2-1/2 weeks ago and am on Arimidex. I have read the discussions about how extensive fatigue can be and how long it can take to taper off. My problem is that I crash every afternoon and, although I am very tired (like now at 8:43pm), I have great difficulty sleeping at night. I was a light sleeper before the cancer. Arimidex MAY cause sleeplessness in some patients, apparently, but I don't know if this is the problem - if it's just me - or if it's because I sleep in the afternoons. Does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions. I would LOVE to have some restorative sleep.

I am not on Arimidex, so, I
I am not on Arimidex, so, I don't know if that might be part of the problem or not. I do know that rads will exhaust you and they are cumulative, so, it will take awhile to gain your strength back even when you are finished. Have you talked to your oncologist about this? Maybe he can prescribe a sleeping pill or something.

Hope you get some sleep soon,

I too had lumpectomy and 8 wks radiation
I had no side effects of radiation to speak of (NO burning or fatige etc) I am light sleeper also and wake up an avg 4 x nightly. I was on tamoxifen until 2 wks ago..I THINK THAT KEPT ME up/or made me have bad rest...I am being changed to diff. med in 2 wks...not sure what yet.

I can fall asleep on couch..and move to bed and WIDE awake...!
