Looking for support

My sister was recently diagnosed w/ Stage 3 (bordering on stage 4) cervical cancer. The cancer has already spread to the lymph nodes and they found a spot on her lungs on the PET scan. She's only 42 years old and has a husband and two little boys at home. She's undergoing chemo and radiation at the same time...radiation Mon - Fri and one day of chemo every week for 6 weeks. I try to be optimistic, but the aggressive nature of the cancer really scares me.

To make matters even more complicated, I'm 4 months pregnant with my first child. Its such a confusing time for me - excited about the new baby but constantly worried about my sister.

I know she has the best doctors treating her, but I'm so scared that the treatments won't work. Has anyone else gone through something like this? How did you handle it?

    I totally understand how you must feel. I have no experience with cervical cancer, however I am a sister of someone fighting cancer. I know how you must feel, there is a sense of guilt to feel happy or excited over things, a sense of fear of the unknowns of what your loved one is facing...and the ever dreadful worry. I have learned that worrying never changes anything for the good. Worrying, however is not good for you and your precious baby! Taking care of yourself is beneficial to her also!
    I am almost certain that your sister is as happy about your future addition to the family as any sister has ever been. I am so glad that you have confidence in her doctors and treatment. Hoping that the two of you can spend good days making plans for future family events.

    You have come to the right place for support and to arm yourself with information specific to her treatment. Many others will be of great help in that category.

    I just read your post about your sister's cervical cancer my heart and support goes out to you.
    I have gone through the last 9 months with my wife battling stage 4 cervical; radiation, chemo, surgeries, everything.
