stereostatic rad therapy

The last pet showed hyppharingial squ hence thepresent RT TO NECK.
but it also showed a spot on the lung.
They decided back then to use steriostatic rt when the present neck rt is done.
Anyone know of this type of RT?

Stereotactic Radiosurgery
I had this type of radiation treatment in 2009 with fantastic results. In May of '09 I was diagnosed with NSCLC Adenocarcinoma in my left lung and SCC Supraglottic laryngeal cancer. I received cisplatin and 35 radiation sessions for the laryngeal cancer. After completing this I was sent to another cancer facility to receive the Stereotactic treatment. It is so much easier and you will only need 4 or 5 treatments. I only needed 4 and my last CT scan showed no sign of the original tumor.

I was given this type of treatment because the tumor was too close (or on) the Pulmonary artery and this treatment is much more precise, it does not destroy the surrounding good cells. The treatment time is usually about an hour but a lot of that is because they have to have you lined up exactly for the treatment. The original appointment can take up to 3 hours as they have to make a body cast for you to lie in during treatment. The body cast is nothing serious, much easier than the mask. It's like lying in a bed that is shaped exactly like your body, it's like a blow up mattress that shrinks up around the sides of your body.

I am very thankful that I received this treatment and thoroughly pleased with the results.
