Vectibix
Hi there Molly. I have been on vectibix along with iriontecan for almost a year now. I was fortunate and hve not had many side effects from this. Did develope a mild rash at first but onc had me start antibiotics 2 weeks befors starting the vectibix and the rash was kept to a minimum. I also had some inflamation of the nail beds on my toes but meds cleared that up quick. The weirdest thing is that the vectibix can make your eyelashes grow like crazy. The iriontecan made my hair fall out and the vectibix made my eyelashes grow really long. I'm sure I looked odd if someone looked real close. Generally the vectibix hasn't been to hard to handle. Hope everything goes well for your mom.

I had vectibix twice and both times I was only able to get two rounds of it as I broke out in a severe rash and my oncologist told me we could stop it right away.0 -

been there done that
Hi Molly, I finished 12 treatments of Vectibix and Irinotecan last November. The Vectibix did cause a bad rash on face and scalp and upper chest and the Irinotecan did cause me to loose hair but my eyebrows and eyelashes grew rapidly, kinda strange. The most important thing is this regimen worked really well. I'm stage 4 with mets to lungs and abdominal lymph nodes and all the nodes and lung spots shrunk by 50%. The oncologist recommended I take a 3 month break from chemo since I had been on some type of chemo for over 2 years, needless to say the cancer started growing again and I'm now back on folfox + avastin for 6 more months. This was my first chemo regimin back in 07 after surgery. I've had everything they make for colon cancer the last 4 years. Last count I've had 66 chemo treatments which totals about 3 yrs of chemo. I guess that's why they call it a battle with cancer, maybe they should call it a war. It's been up and down, mostly up, the chemo seems to work as for as stopping the growth or slowing it down or even shrinking it. In my case I may be on chemo the rest of my life, but I'm OK with that. I still live a normal life and work full time as a landscaper. Tell your mother to keep a positive attitude and never give up no matter how bad it may get. My prayers are with both of you, Randy0 -
