end of treatment celebration
I planned my first "GIRLS ONLY" trip to Disney World! As you can tell from my sign in I LOVE DISNEY...soon as all my BC started I planned this trip (LONG OVER due with friend) Each day I was at radiation I would lay and think MICKEY MICKEY...it helped me to have a goal at the end. I know mine was a big thing-but curious how others CELEBRATED BIG OR SMALL?!!!!
It helped me through with something special at the end...

I think celebrations are the
I think celebrations are the perfect way to celebrate all that we go thru. My husband took me to the Caribbean where we just relaxed, drank, ate, soaked up the sun and just enjoyed being with each other.
I didn't know he had it planned, so, it was a huge surprise and just what WE needed.

Doing Relay for Life
Like Gabe N Abby Mom, I will be walking as a SURVIVOR and having dinner at our Relay For Life in Plantation FL on April 1st--which will be my first day post treatment (as a triple negative I will only be scheduled for quarterly checkups after I complete rads on 3/31/11)!
I'm sure there will be other celebrations (like dinner out with my hubby), but the RFL event is the demarcation line for me of "graduating from treatement".

My husband has a Panama Canal Cruise planned for October. Hopefully I will be finishing up tx by then. I am soo excited to travel again! We are stopping in Aruba, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and Columbia.
I hope everyone who finishes tx gets to have a special trip to celebrate!

My Mother Did!
My mother recently finished treatment and we suprised her with a trip to Siesta Key with her best friend. I will say we were a little worried with it being so early after she had completed Chemo. But, she has always been a fighter and she was so excited! We did get her an alert one medical alert just in case something were to happen. Luckily she had an amazing time with no issues, but it was nice to have the piece of mind that a system was in place if something were to happen. Just an idea for those of you with elderly parents.0 -

I actually went on a shopping trip three days before the end of my treatment to celebrate the end of radiation. I am now training for a 1/2 marathon which I am going to run at the end of April in Nashiville. I am doing the ACS DetermiNation run.0 -

We went to the mountains and stayed in a beautiful log home! It was absolutely breathtaking! My husband planned the whole thing for me.

Went on a 12-day trip to Kauai with my husband--the love of my life. Had the time of our lives.
Then about a month later did a Race For the Cure walk here in Phoenix with my husband, son, daughter-in-law, local girlfriend and husband and two girlfriends flew in and surprised me--one from NJ and the other from FL. Very meaningful and emotional.

I can relate with grandsons...mine our 4 & 6 ! They moved in with us just over year ago with their mom. She was working 2-3 part time jobs and part time college. She just got full time work and college part time nights. SO I do much of child care. I drop one daily am sitter for bus and then after work I pick up at day care and then another stop at family member. They go on most every vacation with us! (mainly want them and sometimes mom has no one else to watch) so we plan our vacations around them....but LOVE IT...
At the time of my BC etc..she was living in her own apartment so I was not tied down quite as much..
Disney girls trip was the best...(First time ever) it was so much fun year later did one with different friend!
(grandsons have been 2x Disney & ask daily -when are we going to see Mickey?)0
