OFF TOPIC: An extra prayer for Marina, please
As I was crossing the street walking to my office, a woman was also crossing toward me, and a car just ploughed into her out of nowhere. Knocked her right to the ground. She didn't lose consciousness, and seemed to be able to move around, so I think she will be all right, but she was hysterical and inconsolable. She spoke only Spanish, so I couldn't really communicate with her. I called 911, waited with her until the paramedics arrived, and just tried to comfort her as much as I could -- thankfully, two of the paramedics spoke Spanish.
The driver stayed with us, and immediately gave his information to the fire department, but what makes me so angry is that there were several other witnesses, who all just said, hey sorry, she's okay, gotta go. One even said, "Hey man -- she's fine, we don't need to call anybody, we don't need to get the police involved or anything." EXCUSE ME?!? I gave my information to the fire department, and will gladly tell anyone who needs to know exactly what I saw.
I tried to keep her as calm as I could, and asked her name -- Marina. She was so scared and so fragile, and asked me over and over in Spanish "I'm a Christian, why would this happen to me?" Please say an extra prayer for her today.

Praying
I am saying prayers for Marina right now Traci! It isn't surprising that you, with your big heart, helped her and offered any and all assistance. You are a sweet, kind sister!
Unfortunately, this world has taken a turn for the worse in certain aspects. So many seem so concerned with just themselves and somewhere along the line, they have lost touch with being a human being and a Christian.
I am so sorry that this upset you Traci, but, I want to thank you for being there at that time to help Marina.
You were her angel! So, thank you!

Let's not involve the police .. statement make my 'blood' boil ! ! .. There seems to be no human connection in our society .. Our universe with regards to decency, kindness and community - has disappeared.
I am proud to know you, and call you friend.
Prayers for Marina, as well.

This is so you and so
Traci,
This is so you and so the right thing to do. As far as the don't call the police. According to the DMV in California the police must be called if their is an injury and trust me she will be bruised and in pain later. Adrenal at the moment may be masking real injuries.0 -
Kudos to you Traci for
Kudos to you Traci for showing your HUMANITY. Those others lost the opportunity to connect and help a fellow being. I will say a prayer for Marina.
Take care, God bless.

So glad you were there for her; even with the language barrier you were a great comfort to her while waiting for the paramedics.
Thanks for sharing. You're all in our prayers.

To you, Traci, and of course I will send prayers for Marina and hope that she will fully recover both physically and spiritually.
So sorry that your day (and hers) started out like this, but for her sake I'm glad that you were there to comfort her in a way that surpassed the language barrier.

we knew you would. So sad that some people are so wrapped up in their worlds that they cannot help another human being. Marina will never forget your act of kindness and she'll be in my thoughts and prayers today.
And you, Miss Traci, are an angel. As for those others, well, I truly believe that in the end, it's all about karma.

Traci, my first thought was thank goodness you were there. I am never surprised at the number of inhumane beings out there. I'm sending extra special positive thoughts for Marina's recovery. You are an amazing person, but we all already knew that!!0 -

Thank you all for your encouragement and kind words. It's taken me hours to stop feeling quite so shaken by this morning -- and I feel guilty even saying that, given that I wasn't the one hit by a car.
Like many of you said, I'm trying to focus on it being a good thing that I was in the right place at the right time. Given the reactions of the other bystanders around me, had I not been there, it kills me to think of her lying in the street alone with no one there for her.

Oh my!!! What a harrowing
Oh my!!! What a harrowing experience for both of you!! That poor soul, no doubt she will be in such pain by this time tomorrow. What you did surprises me not at all~ from having met you both on the boards and in person, of course you would stay and do everything you could! There is a good reason that so many empathetic Kindred Spirits find themselves here on the boards...can you imagine ANY of us turning a blind eye or feigning ignorance or indifference? I didn't think so!
Take care of yourself...drink some soothing tea, and know you truly were her guardian angel today. Thank you, Traci! (((((hugs))))

Traci:
We've always known you to be a caring and kind person and your actions this morning confirmed this again. Thank you for all that you do for others. Jane0 -
Accidents are scary
and leave your feeling raw and vulnerable. I am so glad you were
there for Marina. Do you realize she will forever be telling the story
about the woman who held her and made sure she was ok?
You just become part of her family tapestry.

You were Marina's Angel of Mercy. Maybe that is why she kept repeating, "I am a Christian, why would this happen to me?" From what I've read on this board, you truly are an Angel of Mercy and a wonderful and compassionate person.
Keep up the good work. God certainly has a plan for you, as he does for each of us. Consider prayers sent and received.
Be Well,

God put you in the right place at the right time a lot of people think angels are all in heaven but a whole lot walk around us each day(I thank God for you)I had an experience on yesterday also before going into a store i looked up and saw a car on the side of the street but it was a long way away and i went into the store and came out and the car had moved and in front of the store now and i realized the person was having car trouble at the time i thought it was a older lady so i got into my car and pulled in behind her and to my surprise it was a 24 yr.old and 2 little children anyway i followed her until her car just wouldn't go any further and we got out and i know 50 men pasted us by we were going to try and get her car out of the street but no one stopped so we just let it roll back into a parking place and i took her and her babies home. It's a lot of angels walk this earth they are sometimes called friends and that's what i call all of you kindred spirits.Love you all and i will be praying for Marina.MOLLYZ.0 -
