Multiple types of cancer and radical hysterectomy side effects

I was diagnosed with endometrial, cervical and uterine cancer. I was told post op that the endometrial spread to my cervix but that the uterine cancer was not connected to that cancer. I was told I had 2 different types of cancer and the uterine cancer was completely separate from the endometrial, is this normal?

Also after my radical hysterectomy, which was the most horrible post op mess ever, I dont think I will ever be okay again. The problems from the surgery made me wish I kept the cancer. My surgery was in 2008 and I still have bladder problems, painful sex (when and if I even have any) due to the shortness of my vaginal canal. My stomach has not ever been the same, I have permanent bladder and kidney issues. I thought it was a botched surgery, until I read how many others on here have similar post op problems. Thanks for making me feel that I am not alone in this.

I am sorry you have had such a difficult surgery. It sounds like you need to see more skilled surgeons; one in bladder control and one to check your vagina. Do you use a vaginal dilator? They come in three sizes; start with the smaller one and work up. I just keep the middle one. You may have scar tissue that needs to be removed. You need to write these problems down and tell your Doctors how hard your life is.

I would see a gastroenterologist to see why your stomach hurts. You could have an ulcer from the stress; it is caused by an organism H.Pylori and you could have caught that anywhere. Did you have chemo? I would also get a copy of my surgical report and pathology report; you can go to the medical office at the hospital and get those reports.

Do you have to take pain meds? I can't tell how much you are suffering. I wonder if one pain med before intercourse would help but I would talk to the Gyn Onc first; You may have scar tissue. We cannot give medical advice here but we share our treatments and problems and sometimes that helps. I think help can be there for you so you can have more of a normal life again.
