I'm mad too!
Sometimes my mind tells me the cure is being withheld or they could do more for cancer patients but too many people profit from this rotten disease.
I try not to entertain that thought for more than a few seconds because I cant handle the feelings that come along with that type of thinking.
So I say I'm grateful for another day spent with the people I love, and pray that it continues for many more days to come.
peace,

to see money sent to Haiti for their people when all the money sent is being rerouted to where all the rulers live, and its not Haiti, its Miami Fla....and it burns me up that American the Free has turned into America the Greedy...When we will send money overseas because of the political ramifications it brings to the political arena, but none of which seem to find its way to any of our own people because its not politically savvy to help our own. The company I work for gave its CEO a 3.7 mil bonus.......Who in the world needs that much money ? and then as a matter of good faith (I throw the BS flag on this next remark) informed us that we we're not going to get a raise for the next 2 years as a matter of good faith to the people. Yeah, he gets 3.7 mil then decides we don't need anymore either...What a jerk, what a greedy jerk...I wonder if he realizes how many people could keep their houses if he decided that the money he got just be turned over to a foundation in here. Its evident that he has no one near and dear to him suffering from this disease...
AMERICA...WAKE YOUR AZZ UP !!! You have your own people dying in your own streets and yet you still send out money to every foreign nation that hollers suey !!! If its political strength you want, and greed is the road to get it then you will soon find yourself at the top of the heap, for there will be no one else alive to run against you, unless of course all of us in here move to Haiti, or South America or Africa, then maybe we will get a little attention from all of you, or maybe that's also an ostomy bag full as well. I am assuming that the funds you send over never get there and are actually rerouted to the rulers living in their mansions in Miami....how stupid do you think we are...but yet let us talk ill against you and there is he11 to pay...let us talk about our own nations relief efforts and all we get is rhetoric ( thats bullchit in southern terms) and how and when do we decide that when you have taken all the money from all the people how in the he11 do you expect us to keep all of you in your apparell, your cars, your trips...well you had better have your people paid for way in advance or you will lose your grip as well and become as we are...on the outside looking in. Im sick of being sick, Im sick and tired of sending all of our countrys money to a foreign country that doesn't give a hoot in he11 about us and couldn't care lees about who or what we do for them...what about us ??HUH, What about your own effin people !!! We're dying here, can you not see that, No its not gonna gain you anything in the political arena but it sure as he11 will in good faith efforts...Oh he11 I forget, That doesn't bode well with foreign ambasseudeurs does it...damn my bad, sorry if I cost you a vote.....
Look Im just tired of seeing all of these taxpaying citizens of the USA getting one stuck in em because they try and do the right thing, to help one another...and to the people that think money is the answer to everything...well, when a funeral possession rolls by, check to see how many armored cars are in it...thats what greed gets you, absolutely nothing....but when you share your wealth, the countrys wealth, with each other in that country, then you become a sovereign, strong, well cemented nation again...as we once were..but most likely will ever be again.....I honestly think that another great depression like it or not will be the only saving grace for this country...we have become a nation of greed, and a nation will never stand like that...
If we get an opportunity to donate to something.....let it be to some individual in here that we know, it may not mean much to you to give someone $20, or maybe send them a card with a gift certificate to a chain restaurant for $25 or $40 if you can afford it, but you know, it may be the one day out of the whole year that brightens the day of someone that receives it from you. Its a reciprocal gift, its a token of America taking care of its people, its American citizens taking care of those we cherish most, our friends, and if all of us in here no matter where you reside or in what country you live in, if you are in here then you are part of us, not politically bound or biased by what we or you have, but bonded by our disease or caregivers because of this disease. But donate to the people you know, donate to your people, people with cancer or people that take care of people with cancer. Not to organizations that uses 90% of it for admin costs...Tell me someone in here that would love to go out and eat at a restaurant but has to choose between eating or prescription medicines to get by...That's what I want my little extra money to go to...and that's where it will go to....
"Gracie2010"...you are my sunshine this week...if you will please pm me your address, I would love to send you a gift certificate to the restaurant of your choice to eat...you tell me where that might be and its all yours, or you can give me any address to mail it to and that's where it will be sent, its not whether you need it or not, its a gesture to let you know that no matter where you are or who you are, "you matter to me", as do you all...I want to know that it got to the people that are on the front lines fighting this...and no, there will be no postage due or no admin costs with this...this is a start of things I hope will flourish in people...The smallest gift sometimes has the largest significance...I think its time to try and turn this nation of greed into the nation it was...Strong and Caring of its people....This will be my start of much more to come....It will never be said that we won't take care of our own, we do it everyday ...we just need for our government to take a long look in the mirror at themselves and try and figure who they think they are really seeing in their reflections...Take care of your people at home, and you will always be rewarded........Love to you all...........buzz0 -

I can totally relate to how you're feeling. After closing a business and having no insurance or COBRA available to me that I could afford on unemployment, I ended up in the ER and got my dx. I've always been a law abiding, taxpaying citizen who has contributed to this country of ours. I can't tell you how disillusioned I was when I became one of those who fell through the cracks, spent every penny I had saved and cashed in all my savings, stocks and IRA, sold all my valuables and still couldn't qualify for any type of assistance until everything was completely gone, including unemployment. It is a sad state of affairs that a country as great as ours can allow this to happen to people who have played by the rules and done what we were raised to believe made us good citizens and great Americans.
With a stage 4 dx, I couldn't afford the $17,000 a treatment for chemo. It took me 5 months to get things together for treatment and then was paying out of pocket for it until just recently. Now in order to qualify for medical assistance (thank goodness but only covers outpatient services done by the county - no inpatient coverage) and $400/month towards rent payments, I am not allowed to make more than $50 a month. Since I had such a tough time with the chemo, there was no way I could work. Now, I'm looking at having my surgery and just going back to work (If I can find a job - always told I'm over-qualified - with our "official" unemployment rate at 14.5% and the suggested "real" rate at 25%) without doing more chemo because I just cannot live on $450 a month just to have my medical assistance.
It's just a very sad state for this country to have good people experiencing this while Billions of dollars go out of our country to help others. I don't think that we should give nothing to others ... I just think that we should have more for our own than we have right now. If my unemployment hadn't ran out, I would have had to quit chemo or maybe not even have started. When I was told a stage 4 might expect 6 to 14 months of life without treatment, I worked my tush off trying to find treatment and it took me a lot of work and 5 months to be able to do that. What if I were less motivated? What if I were just not as educated on what to do? What if I had just gotten depressed and given up? What about those who do that? Are we losing good, hard working people who just need a bit of help? Where is the justice in that?
I just know that if I have had this experience, there have got to be hundreds of thousands if not millions of others who are or have gone through the same thing. Enough from me. (tying my typing fingers together)0 -

1% or less of our budget goes to foreign aid, and Egypt, Iraq or Afghanistan would probably be better choices than Haiti (just sayin').
2% of the budget goes to scientific and medical research. Some of that goes directly to companies performing research on Cancer drugs, which, when they prove effective, will be sold to us with markups of 1,000% so the company can recoup it's govt funded costs, and the CEO can get a fat bonus.
Btw, this is not an either/or, a cut to international aid will not equal an increase in medical research.
The system is broken, the question is how do we fix it. Everyone on this board has a personal stake in healthcare, whatever that may be. Pick your piece of the issue, contact your representative, and find out where they stand on YOUR issue. Tell your story, bring them to your side, or, vote for the other guy.
This could quickly turn into a political argument, at which point it would be in violation of the T&C's (if it isn't already). As such, this will be my last post on the subject. If someone wants to know what I really think we can do that via PM.
Something to leave you with:
http://www.cleveland.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2010/09/fundraising_flourishes_for_bre.html
More than 200,000 people die each year of lung or colorectal cancer. The combined amount of federal money allocated in fiscal 2009 for researching those two diseases was $511 million.
That amount falls short of the funding earmarked for breast cancer, a disease that is diagnosed in slightly fewer people and kills five times less often0
