fingers crossed

Hey guy's just had to share, my wife had her routine mammogram last week, they seen something they did not like, they had her go back and this time they did a magnification scan, and they found calcification there. Now see needs to go for further evaluation. Does not seem real, I did some research and it could mean nothing or it can be the beginning of cancer. I'm praying for the best,of course, but I'm really worried. My wife is so strong, but I would rather go through it again, then for her to have to deal with this crap!..... sorry to vent! as I said fingers crossed Vinny

    Vinny,
Fingers are crossed here too.Hopefully it is nothing. They are so much more thorough now than they were years ago with breast cancer and anything that looks suspicious. It is weird that the slightest thing out of place in our lives that seemed routine a few years ago one thought enters our mind. We think about all the treatments, tired days, etc. All those memories come back. They were not enjoyable and we do not want anyone else having to go thru that ordeal. Like I said,Fingers are crossed. Prayers at this end
    Hi Vinnie,

Did your wife have a digital Mamo? Lots of women have calcification in their breasts. My friend also, and everything turned out OK. In fact, they were ready to do a biopsy of her breast. She went to a new mamo center, more advanced equipment. She was so frightened. She didn't need the biopsy. She does have to go yearly for an exam.

Prayers your way. Love to your wife. Love maggie

    Microcalcification
I too had a mammo with them finding that. Went back for a compression mammo (talk about hurting....they smash even harder). Then had to go for 6 month checkup. At the 6 month they determined it wasn't anything to worry about. I am now back on yearly mammos.

I understand exactly about going straight to the cancer though. It's expected. I will keep her and you in my thoughts my friend. But as my doc told me it could be "trash" who on earth would ever think there is trash in our bodies LOL.

Take care and have a good weekend!

    Think positive thoughts..
    Hi Vinny,
I will keep good positive thoughts for your wife. After all you have been through with your cancers, it's only normal to get anxious when something like this happens. Please keep us informed. My good thoughts and prayers are with you.

Vinny, that is no fun when looking at your wife getting tested for routine mammo then get tested more - it just shows how much you went through and makes you cherish Life more with your wife. I find this experience similar when thinking about my hubby's health vulnerability. We just pray and hope. Thinking positive thoughts for your wife - Liz

    All the best!
Sending good thoughts to both of you and prayers for a good outcome. I just know how long the weekend must have been. I have been through a similar scare and it was no fun at all....again that waiting business. After a fine needle aspiration biopsy(FNAB) the results showed the area in question to be normal tissue. I remember the relief was overwhelming but had to wait over a long thanksgiving weekend for those results. Oh and tell your wife the biopsy, if she needs it, was not painful,I was awake and that part was easy, the worry however is not. Again all the best. Mary

    Vinny
And I used to love Merry go rounds! Now, not so much. Who is she seeing next? I think for me (and the problem sounds so similar)after the small area was discovered I was then referred to a surgeon by my GYN and that really scared me. But he was very kind and reassuring and from looking at the films I think he could pretty much tell a lot. He's the one who ordered the biopsy and I never did see him again. And I made a mistake on my other post. It was not a fine needle aspiration biopsy it was a Stereotactic biopsy. This is a computer guided type and as I said is absolutely easy. There was no surgeon involved for this or anything like that, just a tech and a table and some noise. I remember after they were finished getting the biopsies they did a mammogram to make sure they hit the area in question and everyone was amused because the procedure was so accurate that the area was no longer visible! But the worry and fear is a big deal and I was so scared, much more so then I showed on the outside. I think part of it was just not knowing what to expect so hopefully some of this will help a little. Good luck, Mary
