After radiation,chemo,and surgery,surgeon and oncologist were pushing follow up chemo. My oncologist then told me that a major Italian study was published last November/December. Patients with rectal cancer, either in remission or after successful surgery, 'received no perceived benefit from additional chemotherapy.' As additional chemo was the 'standard of care' for colon cancer, it was done on general principles with rectal cancer patients, without detailed studies. Although you all may be familiar with this, I thought I'd bring it up as the study was published very recently.

Essentially the same situation for my appendix cancer
which is why I quit chemo when the going got too difficult. My onc wanted me to have the chemo based on the "standard of care". I decided the suffering wasn't worth it for no known benefit.
