Life is Precious....
Just to let you know today I was just finishing PET scan and walked to the snack room then got the message that one of my dearest friends from another state passed away at age 67 - just suddenly collapsed for some reason. I am deeply saddened and at a loss. I am getting better and was going to contact her to get together. She was healthy and was just retired one month ago. Whoa!! But you know as I get older, it seems that I get more bad news or is it me? My husband just said this is a wake up call that we should focus more on the present, not worry too much for the future or work too much, and take vacations (or retire earlier!). I agree - although, I feel sad and alone, I do look forward to enjoy and appreciate Life more after what I have just been through. I can imagine what you have been through too, right? I hope this gets easier.
Hugs,
Liz

So sorry!
Hi Liz,
I'm so sorry about your dear friend passing away so suddenly. It IS a wake up call Liz, and I agree 100% with your hubby...it's time to appreciate life and spend much more quality time with those we love and doing things we want to do. Cancer doesn't define who I am, but it has certainly changed the way I think and feel. Yesterday at the clinic I passed a young man..probably mid 40's who looked like he was at the end of his cancer journey. He had 6 family members with him in the chemo room and all of them were smiling and laughing and it was quite obvious they were a tight knit family. My heart ached looking at the young man. I asked my chemo nurse if he was going to be ok and even though she couldn't say anything about his medical condition(privacy policies), I got the general idea that there wasn't anything left to do for him. What amazed me was how close the family was and how happy and up-beat everyone was...including the young man....there was a sense of peace with all of them. My chemo nurse told me that everytime he came in for treatments the whole family showed up with him....since day one for the last 2 years. I thought that was really awesome. Sorry to ramble...it's just my sensitivity to others is so heightened since getting cancer and seeing this young man yesterday really had an impact on me. Take care Liz..rest, heal and live life to the fullest!

Sorry
Hi Liz:
I am so very sorry about your friend. You are so right we just have to live one day at a time. And enjoy that day to the fullest.
It is so hard when we get older, it seems like there are more people in our lives that leave us. But we just can pray and thank God for each day.

Hi Sue,
I have had similar experiences in the chemo room. I feel blessed I have lymphoma and not something else. Not that is is good but it's much better than other diagnosis. Life is so special and I thank God for it every day. I appreciate everything in life so much more. I just like to think that we are just a day or two away from a new medicine that will keep us alive or even a cure. My mother always loved the serenity prayer. It is powerful. Have a good weekend and do something wild and crazy!!!!!!!!!:)0
