Update on my onc visit

Unfortunately, my tumor markers were both up from last visit. My onc is scheduling PET and bone scans to stay on top of things. I will see him back in a couple of weeks or so. The good news is that I felt amazingly calm knowing that the Kindred Spirits were with me. What a difference support makes! Hopefully, this is just a little speed bump as, overall, I still feel a lot better than when I was first diagnosed with mets. Keep sending me good thoughts and prayers; I know that they help!

    I had the same experience
    with my tumor markers going up after chemo was finished. So I had a PET which was clear and my onc decided to wait on the bone scan and let me go ahead with rads. He said he'd test again after rads. My markers were 31 after my lumpectomies, 36 during chemo and 41 3 weeks after chemo. He didn't like the upward trend, but wanted me to finish treatment anyway. Perhaps I'm one of those people for whom tumor markers aren't reliable--I don't know.

    Yes Cynthia having that support really does have an effect on the way we handle things sometimes...but i will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hope this is only a small speed bump!

    Yes, let's hope our markers mean nothing! My PET scan hasn't been ok for the past 6 yrs, but, hey, I'm still here, working and doing ok. Because we are having lovely spring-like weather, Danny and I headed to the Audubon Zoo after the onc's appt. The flamingos were so stunning and the baby orangutan was adorable! We turned lemons into lemonade.

    Then we headed to Pascal Manale's, an old timey, traditional Uptown New Orleans restaurant, where most eat the messy barbequed shrimp wearing bibs. I stuffed myself on an olive salad and french bread.

    Every day is a gift and today was, paradoxically, a beautiful day--it probably was because I felt you all there. Love you all!!
