Please don't forget about us over on the colorectal board. We need you and your experiences, especially the newbies. You are a shinging example that yes, Stage IV can be beat and us Stage IV's need to hear that so badly. So, don't forget to stop in from time to time.
How as your trip?

Hey there Nana B
My name is Patrick and I am new to the site but shocked at some of the things I have been reading. I am stage 4 colon cancer but when I was at the colon site it seemed like some issues about mentioning god or prayer. So I came to this forum in hopes of finding Christians like myself but I see people on here saying some not so nice things about God. Someone named Phil seems to be a person with a desire to stir things up. If he is not sure if he believes then why does he come to this forum or why don't they just set up a forum for Christians only? I see they have lots of different forums but nothing Christians.
Well I am glad to see you are doing so well what stage where you at the time you where diagnosed? If you don't mind me asking0 -

I was Stage 3, after my scans, Stage 4. They found 3 mets to the liver. And you?
I know what you are saying. This board should be for those that want to reach out to others to pray for them, but as you know the devil works in mysterious ways! lol Keep praying and we will do the same!0 -

I too am stage 4 but I know God will get me through this challenge in my life. I had a tough 2010 but I am looking forward to 2011 being a much better year. I hope you are doing well with your fight.0 -
Hi Nana! & comments to Phil
Ok, I've jumped over to this board for the moment too. I did back when it was first formed, but would get too many opposing views and hostility. There were some good discussions, don't get me wrong, but I just did not feel comfortable. I realize that not everyone on this board will be a Christian, as it is open to all beliefs, but I had hoped that it could be a place where people who are of like beliefs can openly share, request prayer, and support each other in a way we'd like. I did not feel that before.
Honestly, it is mostly because of one member who has recently jumped back onto the colorectal board (yes, I'm speaking of Phil). I've had many conversations awhile back with Phil and actually some quite good and interesting dialogue.
Phil, if you're reading this, I do want you to know that I think you are very intellectual and are interesting. But, I do also want you to know that I'm very upset at what is again going on in the colorectal board. Not that you started all the religious discussion, but I know how vehemently opposed you are to anything about God on the colorectal board. In spite of our past conversations, I still don't understand the beef you have with it. Like I've said before, if I saw a title of a new post and it seemed like something I didn't agree with or something I didn't want to read, I would simply not read it or not comment on it.
Here on the spirituality board, if I posted a thread asking for prayer for me for something, for you to reply to that when I know you don't believe in or pray to the God I believe in would not be appropriate. To me personally, it seems almost pointless to go on a spirituality board and feel like you still have to defend your beliefs. That is not why I would be here. Right at the moment, I am here because I clicked on to see how this board is lately because I haven't been on here in quite some time & also I wanted to see if any of the deleted posts from the colorectal board ended up here (because I had missed some of what exactly happened and was said).
Ok- I don't want to go on feeling upset about this, but I guess I just had to get this off my chest to relieve some of the stress I've been feeling over this. Stress release on this topic for me= emotional repair, destressing- all of which are good things to do, as we with cancer are supposed to avoid stress!

Dear one please don't stress out over this stuff, you have quite enough on your plate with your cancer.
Whenever I have sent you a pm to say a special prayer for someone, one of our members who was in deep trouble with their disease, you did it, and the reason I asked you to do it is because I know the prayers you offer are from your heart.
Well I am asking again only this time on a public forum, one where such a request should be appropriate.
Our friend, Robinvan (Rob in Vancouver) is having some very serious surgery in the next few days. The surgery will be part on one day, the rest on the next day. He posted it on his blog. The second surgery may very well leave him wheelchair bound. Rob is a Minister. So my dear friend, if you have time tonight, please offer one up for Rob or go to his blog and leave him a note of encouragement as I have done.

Hi Tina,
Thank you for your words. I will most definitely pray for Rob. I haven't seen many posts from him lately. I do know he is a minister. Do you know any details about his surgery?
Stay safe and warm-

Day one is removal of the rectum and related area with a permanent colostomy. Day two is resection of the sternum, where the spine meets. Rob has suffered greatly from bone mets and has been approved for this surgery.
His blog eblogger, is "A Cancer Journal". If you search for it it will come up on the search list. You can leave him a note of encouragement if you so desire.

Tina,
I will search for his blog and leave him a note. Thanks for letting me know of what's going on. Poor Rob- hope and pray that these surgeries will go well and give him the relief he is seeking.

Thank you for posting about Rob's surgery. I have been wondering how he is doing. I went to his blog, but couldn't see where to leave a comment, would you be able to tell me how to do it?0 -

I am certainly not an intellectual, just an inquiring mind who enjoys learning about things. Other religions is one of them. The only problem that I've had, other than being told we deserve hell if we did not accept Jesus as our savior (which I heard came out again today from another member or words to that effect) is that many people do not wish to partake in what are becoming prayer groups and bible study when we go to the colon cancer forum. I am not alone with these feelings. I could very easily come up with an ending salutation to my posts that would surely offend people but I could state that it's within my rights to so. I don't. Why put comments that have nothing to do with the topic of the forum in the forum other than to piss people off. As much of a surprise as this may come to some people, not everyone believes in the Christian God. Other faiths have their God too but I have never seen any preaching or prayer posting from Muslims or from members of the Jewish faith. Not once. So there is no picking on one group, it's only one group that feels compelled to consistently try to post prayer in the other forums.
As I've said before, I know that in the past some of my comments on the religion forum had become confrontational. It was not how my posts started out at all. I have apologized for those. Now if there is a topic that I don't wish to read I stay away from it but at least I know the forum it is in.
I guess my "beef" is similar to those who oppose any restrictions on buying/owning guns. If one gun law gets passed or religious comments get posted, then they will either take away the guns or the site will become Christian only.
Best wishes to you Lisa

Hi Phil,
Thank you for your response, and thank you for acknowledging being confrontational in the past and for wishing to work on it. I appreciate that and I will try to stay away from confrontations also. I would like to stick around here & I wish you the very best- truly.
Respectfully,
Lisa0
