Please Allow Me To Clarify Things
This colon cancer forum is not just for Christians, Jews, Buddhist, Hindu, Mormons, Athiest, Agnostic or any other type of religion or belief system. Anyone should be able to come to this site and place a post freely without the worries of being torn down by another group. This all started today because someone didn't like my post. Please tell me what was wrong with my post. I am talking about the post that simply offered prayers to anyone who wanted to receive them through a PRIVATE MESSAGE not on the board. I have received over 30 request since this morning for my prayers and some emails just supporting me and yet some of you took offense to that post, why? I did not try and push my beliefs on you I simply offered prayers up to anyone who was interested in getting a prayer to fight cancer.
When I was diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 38 years old it was a wake up call to me. I know in my heart that it was God's way of getting me off the road I was on and leading me to the narrow path. I feel in my hear that God wants me to spread the word on Colon Cancer and how to detect it, treat it and prevent it and I also feel God wants me to spread his word. Again I know I cannot force feed it down someones throat and I have never tried. With that said If I can respect you by not posting scriptures directly on the board then please respect me when I offer up prayers by not putting anything negative on that post.
I hope this clears things up and that we can all move forward. We have already lost Gabrielle who is also a friend of mine on Facebook. I hope that one day she will be able to return and see us all getting along the way we are supposed to not fighting.
God Bless you all,
Bobby

Goodness!
Bobby,
I'm glad you have cooled down some. As I said in my pm, the fighting really doesn't accomplish anything. I didn't see anything wrong with your post saying that if people wanted a prayer, you would send it to them privately. I have no idea why that post was removed. What has happened since then has gotten way out of hand, which has happened before.
I love everyone here and consider you my semi-colon family. Let's all settle down, please!
*hugs*

Some history
Hi Bobby,
Maybe this will shed some light on the subject. In the past, there has been a lot of brouhaha regarding prayer, Christianity and people going to hell if they didn't believe. The fights grew quite passionate as you can now attest. Feelings were hurt, lines were drawn and dukes were up. People left in a huff.
So when this sort of thing pops up again, there are some folks on here who have lived through it before, and may not want to see it turn into another big ol' brouhaha.
While it may or may not be "fair" to quiet us believers, it may help to explain why there may have been some nipping in the bud.
Greta et al truly have our best interest at heart and she does an amazing job here year after year. We can get to be a rather volatile bunch at times.
Personally, I think it's fine that you feel led to have a prayer ministry on here. But since it's a public forum, don't be surprised when you get a few tomatoes tossed your way. :-)
Hope this helps.

I am finding out how crazy things can get by the mention of God and prayer. I guess my issue is that I was not trying to push anything on anyone. My initial post simply offered prayers to anyone who wanted them. If someone wanted them all they needed to do was either send me a private message or say something on my post and I would send it to them in a private message as you did Gail. I agree that this is NOT the forum to push any type of religion or political view but to say I cannot offer up prayers to anyone who asks is where I have an issue. I hope that this has all been put to bed as it has been on my side. I may not agree with Athiest or Agnostic people but it's not my place to try and convert them, all I can do is pray for everyone to be healed physically, mentally and spiritually for this cancer effects all three parts of the human body.
God Bless,

Emily,
This is so well said. Since beginning to read this board in October 2008, I have seen this situation so many times. I am Johnnybegood's mother. I discovered this site filled with caring, compassionate members and much helpful information. I helped her sign up so that she could have added support when I was no longer there at her home to help. It saddens me to see how some of these same people turn on each other. I am not a very religious person.
My husband, on the other hand, is very much so. Somehow, we have stayed married for forty years. So, when the bruises fade, I imagine the board will go on.
That being said, I will not ask for "prayer"(due to censorship) for Johnnybegood, but only for well wishes from those who care to give them. After being NED for several months, two "spots" were discovered on her liver. A biopsy was done today. The results should be available Friday. So 2,000 miles apart, we are waiting and hoping for the best.
Thank you for allowing me a place to ask for support for her as she may not do it herself.

I have never seen a personal request for prayer challenged or flagged, and, as an atheist, take no offense in those requests.
Those requests are very different from the post of the true believer, offering to save you through his path, and using scripture to promise eternal hellfire to those who do not follow him.
So, lots of good thoughts for johnneybegood, and for you!0
